I had a long message short story about the cucaracha I killed and two days later the one I let live, about sharks(Ralf),grizzly bears, a lion in my dream and the cows of last night, as a reaction to Toko's elephant, the whole message was gone, I thought I posted it, but now I don't see any message, something must have gone wrong, next time then, I plunge into the ocean, hope to meet you all ! Another weird coincidence...giant elephants have been on my mind too, during the last week. Due to both a class and a museum-trip to San Francisco exhibit "Toulouse-Lautrec and Montmartre"...both places they described and showed a picture of a giant elephant (variously described as being made of stucco, wood, or papier-mâché) which graced the courtyard of Le Moulin Rouge. I'm talking enormous...one leg held a spiral staircase, and the body contained a stage big enough to hold both an orchestra and dancers.

Weirder still...I searched the web as I was writing this, to make sure I got the facts right. You know how search engines show you tiny snippets from the pages they find? For the search string 'giant elephant montmartre', the second snippet Google finds has nothing to do with that elephant, but does include..."True DREAMS in Montmartre".

Dear Campmates,

By the pool sounds perfect. I'm curious to see if Jerry's still hovering, if Hermine's still in costume, if Ralf is wearing anybody's watch, if Toko is riding her elephant, if Alan has found his dream car, if Joan is in the parade, if Laura has concerns about "odd dates" (just how odd were those dates, one might wonder) -- and what shenanigans the rest of you might be up to.

Abundant Aloha, Eleni K.

I ordered some salvia divinorum over the net, and it arrived in the mail on Friday, so I took it to an overnight stay with girlfriend Dawnie. What I had vaguely in mind was a sort of training session for a supercharged visit to the pool on the 31st. Well, I did three numbers, felt no response, and recalled no dreams of any kind. Dawnie said I got a little mellower than usual, but that was about it. I'll give it another couple of goes to see if the old neuroreceptors lock in - and report back.

Love to all

Hello! Since now I had a very short lucid dream. I just remmember being lucid and try to spin. The scene had changed but I don't remmember anything else.Tonight I put my alarm clock at 3:00am to see if I could reenter my dream. When it rang I remmember that I was dreaming with a man who was sitting beside me, a friend of mine. I was kind of liking him but he had something I didn't like though.Than a woman apraoched and want to sit with us. She use to be a friend too. After a while I could see them both kissing. When I was awake I dicided to reenter the dream and solve this situation. In the next dream I wasn't lucid but I was seeing me so beautiful, had this sensation about me. Thinking that I was like that because I didn't married that man. What I had too was a big carpet. I was doing it using a lot of red color. This carpet was the most beautiful thing I had, It was the reason for seeing myself so much more atractive. Beatrice

Here's my final story from my metaphor writing class. See if you get the metaphors.

In the full moon shade of a giant oak, my breath catches as he walks this way. He's me except for my baldness and twenty-six lonely years of sitting in this damn chair. I have no memory of this happening, but an ocean wave of déjà vu rolls over me. "Jesse, I need to talk to you', I nearly shout. That startles him. He's an owl eyed, frozen statue, gawking at me. "What do you want" he croaks. "Jesse, this is very important, so please listen. This Saturday, there will be a huge rainstorm. Don't go outside for any reason. Just do your report on For Whom the Bell Tolls'. He turns white, and then in a flashbulb moment, runs away. The gnarled old tree pulls me through it and I burst skyward absorbed into the pulsating moon. Looking around, I am back home, sitting at an ancient oak desk, the lamplight shining in my eyes. "What the hell" I mutter. "Jess, are you ok?' Dorothy, my high school sweetheart, entering in a swirl of brunette curls, hands me a cup of steaming coffee. The scent of her perfume fills the room as I take a sip. "There were voices and ''. "Yeah, just dreaming I guess" perplexed, and then realize I wasn't paralyzed in a collision with a "47 Buick on a rainy Saturday, so many years ago. Instead, I remember doing a book report and phoning Dorothy. "I love you" she said that cloud burst day. Thank God I listened to the old guy in the wheelchair. How did he know about the rain and what I was reading? My eye catches Dorothy's latest embroidery, "Home Sweet Home', a little two-story house with a picket fence. It's a dream she has.

Dear fellow dreamers

In this afternoon nap I had a funny missed dreamsign. It was Lynne Levitan, who wanted to give me a butterfly, because I didn?t care for someone passing me something. I knew, the game was over, but I played in her game, because she seemed to intend it as a kind of advertising. And as a played reparation for not being aware, I played an RC. But didn?t notice, I was dreaming. But when she seemed to be unfair later on, I got angry and awoke.

@Keelin, Toko, Hermine (and Lynne): Don?t forget to give me butterflies, when you find me not aware at the pool.

@Alan: Beware of broken neurotubuli!

@Beatrice: I agree with Joe: Nice to hear from you. Your absolutely right! You are a very tender and beautiful woman. Maybe some more red (more positive aggressive power) would suit you well. Congratulations for your LD, anyway.

@Jerry: Play the game. There is no spoon, no dream, no bicycle. Nice story. The words sound so spooky.

Yours Ralf

Hi all of us, Yes Beatrice, we didn't tell about our synchronicity flying both at the same time to L.A. and later on to Chicago where we spent 4 hours together.(We didn't talk about leaving until we noticed the same travelling with United to Chicago!) Your dream reminds me of our talk we had in the Hotel in Chicago. I agree with Ralf. your passion and strength is right at the moment in the relationship, we talked about that afternoon....Dream and reality is intertwined! For Jerry, I like a lot metaphor's. I saw (the fish),the old man and the sea on television in California in 1997 and I know some of the books of Annie Dillard. Your story of the giant oak, the owl eyed, wise person, the burst skyward and the collision you didn't have and the"home sweet home"felt as creating safety around you......avoiding the huge rainstorm!Just by reading and making a book report or dreaming your own reality. Life seems to be easy and simple as that, we just can follow our dreams and instincts. And Alan I believe that new medicine works"wonders"for other people..... And Ralf if you play your butterflies right they awaking you! Maybe we all like to start the ball rolling. A quote out of an article of Paul Atkins about cruising the ocean with great white sharks "If we ever reach the stage where we've eliminated the big predators, then we've destroyed the wild" Okay so far, I wrote a little more about this article last friday and about Grizzly bears, in Canada from another article, about how humans can protect themselves."Lie face down, put your hands behind your neck and play dead" It's not relevant here but might be easy in our dreams....... Hey, Guys (and Gals)!

Back down to earth for a minute...

I am using the Nova Dreamer, and had 3 brief lucid dreams since last week. My sleep pattern has been chaotic recently, but the rare late morning naps have proven to been the key.

The second time, I must have felt it on my face, so I pushed the RC button, and (guess what?) no light. I knew instantly what was up, but awoke within 20-30 seconds.

JJ Calhoos (I dont know how many more of these I can come up with!?!?!?)

What can any of you share with regards to the computer interface for the NDer?

Hi Joe. My interlace has not been initialized yet. I didn't use my novadreamer that often, only the first night when I came back.I start this week again to use the novadreamer.I use number three. By the way I bought the cd "parallel dreams" of Loreena Mc Kennitt last Friday. For Laura, What about your own dreams? You see persons of our group very clearly in your dreams. You travel in your dream to another state. What is the state of origin you lived in or where you are born? Are you in a course with Stephen at the moment? Last night I dreamt about 3 wooden plates in heart shaped form, which I gave to an American family. ( first association-My best friend from high school lives with her husband and three children in Bloomington, Indiana, last time I met her was the end of 1998 in Indiana)The material 'wood' as a texture seemed to be important. At the end of the dream I thought I was clinbing out of a tree! Maybe connected with part of Jerry's oak tree..... Aloha Hermine

Hello, Hermine and friends:

Thanks for asking...

I did write Stephen and inquire as to whether further education was possible, maybe via internet media.... I know he is busy. Several of us could partake of a streaming video lesson/question and answer group as easily as one, with little effort to arrange. Better than a chat, voice and video. The internet 2 will accomodate bandwidth capable of multiple cameras, offereing 3d "holographic" virtual reality.....Having read the books, and been to camp, I really need more.......

I am so excited...!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At 5 pm here, I took a nap determined to go lucid. Stephen's tape, side 2 is fantastic. My batteries were low, so at times his voice would slow, really trippy.....!!!! This was the longest one since the plane ride 3 weeks ago!!!!

Within 1-2 minutes of the tape shutting itself off, I looked at my watch. I had noticed Stevie looking at his watch so often and knew that was one very reliable reality check...destined to occur as a function of your own habit during waking time....(people never hand me stuff??)

Ok... My cheap casio watch has a cool indiglo light that I push frequently...When it didn't come on I was "IN". I tested come flying positions, and saw a motorcyle rider. I have had the itch to get one this spring. I started riding long time ago. I get a new/used one each year. So I politely removed my dream rider, and had an interesting ride. The bike turned int o a small car, like my recent rental, and I found myself enjoying driving it..Dream goes "normal" , probably due to a great feeling of accompliment I was feeling.

I hate all this @#!&^$y typing..Let's all get one of those voice thingys...

Joe & dreamers...

A recommendation from a friend:

http://www.digitalspace.com/traveler/

This is a three-dimensional virtual reality chat. As a user, you have a "floating head" that moves freely through a large virtual space (desert islands, the pyramids, stonehenge, a rain forest, etc) and you talk to other users. (real-time voice chat) Your 'avatar' or head, (people, animals, objects) can also display emotions, and its lips move when you talk.

I've actually thought about recommending this program to some of you here before, just because its so cool, and also because the intensity of moving around in this virtual environment has, a number of times, ...induced... very intense dreaming for me and a few other people I know who have used it. (it's the only place besides dreams I've ever seen an angel fish and a giraffe carry on a serious discussion about quantum physics while floating through the Parthenon.)

peace in the middle east,

Kiko-pots

Hermine: Are you sure you mean me? Maybe it was a dream Laura. I don't believe I fit the description "You see persons of our group very clearly in your dreams." In dreams, as in reality, I tend not to see people very clearly or to remember faces...something that Oliver Sacks' writing assures me is just a matter of how my brain is wired, but which I persist in seeing as a character flaw.

As for the number of us who have appeared, I think you'd find a lot more of us in Keelin's and Toko-pa's dreams although they didn't name whom they saw. So far in the dreams I can recall I've seen Stephen, someone who was probably Joe, people who may or may not have been Betty and Beatrice, another one I took for Stephen but I think was actually Robert, and someone who was either my father or Alan. Plus Shasha's name was mentioned, and I think a few others were in dreams I didn't remember well enough to record.

I hesitate to take up everyone's time answering your questions about myself, but since you seem to see a relevance, I'll go ahead:

Are you in a course with Stephen at the moment? Yes, the Stanford Continuing Studies course (mentioned on Luciidity Institute's home page, right next to Maui camp). This course is where I first heard about the Lucidity Institute, as well as the Maui camp.

What is the state of origin you lived in or where you are born? I was born in California and raised mostly in California and Hawaii, went to university in upstate New York, then lived in New Jersey until 7-8 years ago when I moved to California.

You travel in your dream to another state. From the context I assume you mean geographic location, not state of mind! It's interesting that you say this, because I don't remember mentioning a dream being in another state, either here on the forum (where I did report a dream involving what states other people were from) or at camp. But I recently discovered the following interesting situation:

In October 2000, long before I'd ever heard of the Stanford class (and I reiterate that I'd never seen the Lucidity Institute's web site, and knew nothing of the Maui dream camp at the time), I felt I wanted to restart lucid dreaming and so began recording dreams in a notebook. As so often happens, the project fizzled out in a few days. The last dream recorded in it was in October 2000. But when I signed up for the Stanford class in April 2001 I found the notebook I'd been using, and started using it for taking notes in class (and later for taking notes in Maui) and for recording my dreams.

Just a few days ago I went back and read those October dreams. Here's the very last sentence of the last dream I recorded in October: "I am walking along a road, sense of urgency or importance, feels sort of like the road to home in Maui." Weird, huh?

Happy dreams! -Stalwart Era U.

Greetings, all:

2 for 2, guys!

Had a nap yesterday... With the tape, and the watch glance/check, I was "IN", albeit briefly.

But it was a different experience from Monday....

The sex thing crossed my mind (some instinctive urge?), and I felt somewhat compulsive about it..(?)

Stranely, nothing even happened. I guess I really didn't want it to at that particular time. But I was left with a bad lingering emotional feeling for a few hours...

It occurs to me that the occational LD is fantastic, especially after a dry spell... Maybe every day would take a little bit of the "spectacularity" out of it...I dont Know....

I hope this post is not to personal for any of youzzz guyzzzz...

Hello you all. Toko thank you for you digitalspace chat.Yesterday I had a dream that I was working on a program to make games. There were a tool to morph one face to another. I think one of thouse faces was Joe's. It was funny seing the morphing happens in realtime in the dream. I wasn't lucid, but NEXT TIME I will check this dream morphing tool. Seems that we have much more "mhz" to make this than the computers.

Beatrice - it is great to hear you. I imagined the sound of your accent as I read to myself...it was as if you were right here!

I loved the red-carpet dream of yours. It was only without the guy that you could see yourself as truly beautiful. How true to life!!

I'm glad you had a morphing dream - my dreams lately have been mundane. Well, not exactly mundane...but certainly city-like. I would like to meet you in the virtual space, but my cache is too tiny. The worlds take too long to load!

Today I am cooking carrot-squash-ginger soup for my girlfriend. She is Wiccan, studies Egyptian mythology and ancient Holy Women.

To my great pleasure, I have been seeing Lorella & Shasha. We reminisce how lovely Maui was to us all. We have gone to a Jungian lecture, out for spicy Indian Food, and on the new moon, we did a fire ceremony with a Kabalist group.

Love,

Hello, everybody! It's so great to read your dreams and your comments. I have two dreams to report. The first contains a strange and failed reality check. The second is the first lucid dream I've had in a long time.

First: 14 May 2001 ' Monday

"Off the Cliff at Ten "til Two"

I am running with three friends when we come to a steep, steep cliff. At least two hundred feet below us is a pool that looks very deep. There is jungle all around us and around the pool. One by one my friends jump off the cliff and call up to me to jump.

"Wait,' I think, "this could be a dream. I'm not going to jump if strange 'dream things' are going to happen.' I decide to do a reality check. I move the NovaDreamer off my face and look at my watch. "Ten "til two.' I look away and look back at my wristwatch. The watch I am looking at is not a digital watch but has a face with numbers. "Ten "til two,' I read again. I look down at my friends in the pool. They still call to me to jump, assuring me that it is safe. I look a third time. "Ten "til two,' the watch still reads.

"Good,' I think, "this is reality.' I put the NovaDreamer back onto my face and jump. One of my friends has told me to dive in head first, but I don't try that. I go in feet first. I hit the water and go down, down, down. I open my eyes and can see that the water is murky green. The water is cool. I hold my breath. I wonder when I will hit the bottom and whether I should try to start swimming up to the top before reaching the bottom. Just then my feet feel the sandy bottom of the pool. I push up and go fast to the surface. The jump and the water are exhilarating. My friends and I laugh and laugh.

Second: 20 May 2001 ' Sunday

"This is Not a Dream"

Jerry and I have been staying somewhere, maybe after a vacation, and we are packing to leave. We take a bunch of bags to the car and put them into the trunk. I go back into the cottage and see several empty suitcases up on top of a very tall chest of drawers.

I climb up onto a shelf on the chest of drawers and start to pull things down. I pull down the empty suitcases. There are also blankets, pillows and even a blender up there. I toss them all to the floor. Just then two bright flashes of red light go off right in front of my face. "What on earth was that!?' I think, "maybe it's the NovaDreamer.' I'm a little aggravated and I say very loud, "This is not a dream!'

Then I think, "Well, let's just do a reality test.' So, I try to fly. I push up with my legs and the ceiling and the walls just melt away, and I'm flying! "Oh," I think, "it is a dream!" I am delighted that I am flying. While it had been day when I was packing, it is now night. I feel the cool of the night sky, the air is fresh and clean and I breath it in. I am thrilled. I fly down toward the ground and see a book there. I can make out the name "Staddard" on the bottom of the cover. I think that must be the author's name. I see a brilliant neon restaurant sign. The sign has many colors, and it just gleams. I think that one nice thing about being lucid is that I can see things with crystal clarity.

The dream starts to fade, and I think that I should spin or rub my hands together. Then I think, "Oh, I'm just too tired. I need to sleep.' [The dream ends, but I don't wake up.]

Hi Mauii dreamers, Well Joan your dreams are wonderful, such clarity ,flying and divingexperiences, great! I didn't try your website Tokopa, I have to find out in the near future, like Beatrice did. I found my book about Mutual dreaming of Linda Lane Magallon, from San Jose. I visited her in 1997 and it's very interesting,so I wiil quote for you all some of her tips. Title of the book When two or more people share the same dream. On page 148 mutual dreaming is without any doubt, the most challenging type of dreaming. It evokes a veritable plethora of abilities, some of which are practiced currently. Incubation is the prime tool for the intentional dreamer, plus dreamwork skills like recall, recording and interpretation;other skills like incubation of positive themes..coupled with an overall willingness to take responsability for the production of one's dreams, finally the advanced skills of lucidity and out of body travel, and the free exercise of fantasy, which tends to shift the experience of mutuality into a whole different gear. page 79 in dreamsharing, people intentionally report their dreams together...The recognition that dreams have mutual elements may emerge in the exchange of information....But the very act of sharing dreams can help move us and our fellow dreamers toward a more personal level of intimacy page 80 Group dreaming and dreamsharing provide practice in being the individual in the midst of group diversity. Seeing how other people deal with issues through their dreams, the difficulties they face the solutions they come up with, their successful and unsuccessful attitudes and activities, can be a source of information for our journey.page 81 Groupdreaming........ Finally groupdreaming gives us the opportunity to practice "incubation" or the deliberate "hatching"of a dream. This practice can involve multiple intentions to recall a dream and to connect with other dreamers and to dream to a goal. The more complex the incubation, the more likelihood there is for a complete meshing dream. page 102 An example henry Reed and communal Group dreaming in 1976 he began publishing The Sundance Community Dream Journal,it reflects the advantage of the higher energy created by groupactivity... page 138 Historical Incubation Strictly aspeaking"incubation" refers to the practice of going to a sacred or magical site, such as a temple or natural landmark associated with a divine power and there asking for a dream or visit from a God or saint.(in Egypt and Greece)page 139 Indians of the Americas induced dreams for specific purposes, such as to choose aocation or to accompany rites of puberty or initiation,or to make a decision and to prepare for hunting or war. Shamanic leaders induced dreams and visions though the liberal use of drugs and chanted suggestions to define the shared journey in altered state of conciousness. other rituals included communal prayer and dancing. Medieval alchemists used special symbols and induction devices as signposts in their journey. (Like we use the lucidity induction device!) page 139 continued "induction" has also been used to describe those procedures used to obtain a certain type of dream or to program the events that will occur in the dream ahead of time. Thus to request a lucid dream would be a form of induction....So would be the intent to dream of swimming in Hawaii. However today it is most common for dreamers and dreamworkers to use the term incubation to refer to any practice of requesting or programming dreams.... Incubating a dream means being able to set up the circumstances to become more aware of the dreaming process and content. (Like we have a second midnightdreaming the end of May!) Page 151 about partnership dreaing,;get permission first.Request entry into your partner's mental space and extend an invitation for him or her to come to you.Just ask yourself -would this person appreciate it if I showed up at his or her physical doorstep in waking reality at three in the morning?Would it be okay with me if he or she reciprocated? If the answer to both questions is yes,an unannounced dream visit may just be fine. A plan to initiate partnership dreaming. 1 find a partner willing to share on a peer basis or join an egalitarian dream group that believes in dreaming give and take. Get permission to dream with,to,and for one another. 2 begin by sharing favorite old dreams This is a way to learn your partner's language: his or her interests, values, and the way your partner sees the world. You can get an early indication about whether this person will be the appropriate partner for you. 3 if your partner 's dreams contain a theme or symbol simalar to one from your past,go back in your journal to retrieve that dream and share it.. 4 share current dreams with an eye for cross-connections:dream-to-dream simalarities or dreams that contain content about your partner's waking life. What lifethemes do you have in common? What synchronicities are going on in your waking lives? In your dreaming lives? and so on 5 to 12 if interesting for this group I tell next time more.... on page 153 A Formula to Hatch a Dream which will be interesting too : 1 Select your goal 2 Immerse yourself in your goal 3 feather your nest 4 narrow your focus 5 open up your expectations 6 sleep and dream 7 recall your dreams 8 record your dreams 9 reinforce your dreams page 156 Remember in a partnership paradigm goals are decided through mutual agreement, Meshing goals 1 to 6 Meeting goals 1 to 6 Both for next time if anybody wants to know more for our dreamadventure........ Hi Laura and others, Thanks for answering all my questions,New Jersey where you were born,is near Pennsylvania and Maryland ,where you noticed Beatrice? Your study at Stanford must be wonderful. I am interested too, but it's not next door for me only in my dreams...... Last night I dreamt about animals. First I noticed I didn't put my novadreamer on a number but on my Astrologysign Cancer(I'm Libra I was born the 27th of September)my planet Urunus is in this sign.I saw a bird outside which flew into the room and a dog got the bird in his mouth. Mieke a colleague student (end seventies) took the bird out of his mouth. The dog wasn't aggressive and she saved it very easy. Later on I noticed the snake which could eat the bird who came out of the dog's throat, but didn't bother the bird at all.Later on I noticed the dragonfly, flying free in the air. I was in a group with men and women, I was the only one with the Novadreamer on my head.Another woman was working with the computer to make connection with other dreamers. There was also a television. First association after this dream were the medicine cards. I don't use them a lot the last period, but used them in earlier times during my Voice Dialogue summercamps. The last one was in 1995 in France.I looked up dragonfly in the book today: It's about illusion Dragonfly medicine is of the dreamtime and the illusionary facade we accept as physical reality. The iridescence of Dragonfly's wings reminds us of color, energy, form, and movement explodes into the mind of the observer, bringing vague memories of a time or place where magic reigned.(In Chinese Astrology I am a Water Dragon) In this book they say Some legends say that Dragonfly was once Dragon and that Dragon had scales like Dragonfly's wings. Okay so far. (The power of becoming the illusion, this ability is ever changing, and contains within it the knowledge that you are creating it all, last quote!)As we all create in the dreamtime.... I woke up with this dream this morning and had to go to my practice,so no time to go Lucid..... ALOHA Hermine

Hi dreamers, I dreamt about dogs again, two dogs, one was playful and the other one was licking me with his tongue. I was with a group and we went to the seaside, we found small bottles with coloured sand and coloured water and stones.I left my window open when I came back to my house and dreamt about flying...... Hermine The dogs remind me of a dream I had in 1995,the dog showed me a direction through a passage, the other people of the Voice Dialogue team where I worked with that time didn't continue, I choose my own direction and stopped to work with them. I worked with the dream in the workshop of Robert Moss during a dreamconference in California and I felt right about my decision.

I don't know the time difference, but it's 11.30 pm on Wednesday here, so I guess it's a bit soon to think of you all foregathering, but I'll do it anyway.

Love to all

Smiling....(takes one to know one to know one, Lauren!)

Listen...I had the oddest dream last night. I incubated the question "what is my true vocation?". (yes, I am having a saturnal crisis). And believe or not the answer my dream gave me was...Lucidity.

There was an accompanying diagram. A pyramid who's top was an eye..and the number three.

That's it. Does anyone understand this symbol?

Toko

PS: I tried to re-enter the dream, and found myself in a classroom with Stephen as the teacher. He was very excited about my symbol and asked me to draw in on the blackboard. Everytime I tried, the chalk wouldn't take. But I finally made a half-version, but when I turned around to look at it, my pyramid had three levels now, the second level had a mouth and the bottom level had multicolored stripes.

Hi Tokopa, I remember the pyramid of Fariba who worked(is still working) with Stephen and she is an artist and developed the pyramiddream before she made the artwork..... I have the book of symbols, but without looking my first association with eye, mouth and stripes (the last reminds me of the American flag,so America not Canada!)gives me a basic feeling of America, it got a face.....Whatever your future plans are?! You are an artist, designer, musician roots in a Sufi tradition so what will be the outcome for you, what where your first impressions, feelings after this dream? For me it's a personal impression, I don't want to influence yours first reactions.....! And yes it is an ancient symbol,Egypt, triangles upwards or downwards pointing all with their special meaning, it will be your personal meaning for the essence of meaning...... And yes poetry, for Alan, and others you have to be in the mood, I didnt notice this book for month and then I found it again, personal sharing anyway! Hermine

Hermine - thank you for this insight.

It's funny you should mention America, because I did a bit of research today, and apparently - the pyramid with eye is the symbol on the back of American bills!? (i could use a couple of those!!)

Remember that the spoken/written message of the dream was "LUCIDITY"

I was watching a Joseph Campbell video the other day as he disseminated the meaning of the chakras. He said that the chakra at the 3rd eye, Ajna meaning Authority, was where the two triangles that join the lower & higher chakras are said to separate from pairs of opposites, (agression & erotics, feminine & masculine), into a transcendent centre.

Also, it is where the pineal gland is located, which secretes seratonin, allowing for visualisation and 'communication with higher planes'. Apparently, this is the centre for activity during OBE's, astral travel and...well...lucidity?.

Okay - one more observation...the number three is also an AUM (OM, as we chanted in the hot tub . As I'm sure you already know, those 3 letters represent the following 3 states of consciousness:

A - Waking Consciousness: gross body, "I am not you and you are not I", duality prevails, illuminated from without U - Dream: dream is you, subject & object, relationship as Identity, subtle body, self-radiant, form changing rapidly, personal aspect of myth. M - Deep Dreamless Sleep, but conscious....lucid!

All this lovely, brilliant, inspiring information doesn't guide me on a material level, so I will ask for more (or maybe LESS) clarification.

Love, Cocoa-butter

Thanks, Toko and Hermine for the inspiring conversation!!

I had heard that the pyramids (top apex anyway) were gold encrusted (is this a word?) to be a becon for objects observed in the sky (no woo woo here, baby).

Any of you heard of the homunculus? I saw a band here of that name and had a great chat with a young keyboard man, psych grad out of IU or Ball state . Apparently it is a small region of the brain where creativity lives, for lack of better words. This fellow seemingly was hip to the means of expounding with regard to its function. His (their)ability to be in tune with these higher feelings/emotion/state of awareness (whatever you want to call it) makes them quite a popular act locally. Don't worry, when I see them next week, I will go beneath the ice....

So how the hell are youz guyzzzz?

Toko, If you look at the back side of a US $1 dollar bill, you will see the pyramid with an eye at the apex. It is the "all seeing eye". Supposedly the founding fathers (Thomas Jefferson et al) were masons and this is a masonic symbol. Annuit Coeptis Novus Ordo Seclorum

Hi, this is Joan, just checking in! Tonight's another meeting night! Hermine and Ralf are probably asleep right now.

Jerry found a website about the Great Seal of the United States. The pyramid with the eye floating above it appears of one side of the seal. The site is called greatseal.com, and it has lots of really interesting material about the symbolism of the eye and the pyramid as well as the rest of the seal. The site has quotes from Socrates, Jesus and Joseph Campbell, among others; it talks about unity and becoming one. You'll like it, Toko!

Report of Maui Experiment

Friday, June, 1st, 2001 in Germany

Time 11.28 am - 12.43 pm MEST (Middle European Summer Time) = 11.28 pm ( Thursday) - 00.43 am (Friday) ?Maui Time? (is it?) Setting: Mode 2, but 180 minutes delay. Only want to make sure, I can use the RC button. I wear earplugs. My girlfriend's home.

Set (my plan): Deep relaxation, enter dreamstate, ?materialise? in MLG, swimming pool. I only want to see the people of the workshop, who are dreaming of MLG right now. I will use handrubbing to stabilise dreamscene.

Relaxation: (~ 11.28 - 12.15) Every two points I drift off. It's a hard step back, but I relate this to me having stopped smoking Wednesday night. This affects my concentration. But my body feels much lighter and softer, than with smoking. I ask for 10 times more concentration. It seems to work a little. I can keep track for longer periods. Finally I reach 61. I decide to do pot - shaped breathing to increase the power of my concentration. It works, but it disturbs the relaxation. I quickly imagine the MLG pool. I feel, I have to use the toilet soon. Like in the last days, I imagine myself rubbing a stick between my hands. It works and stabilises the image. But it doesn't feel that real, as it has the days before (during my workshop). I'm not very deeply relaxed and feel my physical body all the time. The pool (~12.15-12.43): I arrive at the pool and sit down near the pool on the ground. I feel as if there are some people floating around me in the water and the air. But I'm waiting for clearer impressions. I see Hermine and Robert, he is showing her, how to snorkel. I think, that this is pure memory. But there is something special about her. She is wearing a yellow bathing suit. The suit , her blond hair and her white skin are glowing in Maui's night, as if it is Hermine to shine like the moon. Then I drift off, but return, always rubbing this stick, which sometimes morphs to a vehicle. There is Toko's face up in the sky. She seems to be very concentrated. Lines are engraved in her face, that point to her Ajna - chakra (I've read about her dream). I think I'm influenced by this reading, but again there is something special about her. I think she tries to dissolve from her physical body, but doesn't succeed. Her face is shifting for some times from a laughing, upright one, to this concentrated face, that seems to lie on the back. OK It's time for me to go. I'm just getting aware, the concentrating on her image brought me to hover high above the pool. That's not what I have intended. I focus on the ground. I see Joan and Jerry sitting under the roof to the right side of the pond. I'm wondering, if they have something to say. They remain silent. I get up.

Aloha Campmates!

First, to Ralf: Speaking of "confused characters", apparently I was something of a muchwhat confused character myself this morning, and I want to thank you for providing an enjoyable dream-like moment (aka a reality check opportunity).

When I read the line in your "Report of Maui Experiment" where you actually wrote: "Set (my plan): Deep relaxation...", what I heard myself read was "Set (my plan): Sleep deprivation...". At first I thought you might be looking for REM rebound to give you an edge, but then re-read your words and what do you know? They read differently the second time! It took a couple more readings for me to assure myself I'd misread them the first time.

As for my own Maui Reunion experience last night: Before going to bed, I spent some time looking at the photos of our campmates with the intention of a rendezvous in dreamland. I resolved to do a reality check the next time I saw an image of anyone from DreamCamp.

Sometime after 5am, I woke and re-confirmed my intention. A short while later: I am browsing through an antique shop when I spy Alan T. There is no need for a reality check ;->. I walk over to greet him, then turn to point out an unusual paper sculpture on the wall. When I turn back, Alan has vanished. Typical dream foolery! Knowing that this "Alan character" is simply the stuff that dreams are made of, I decide to give my brain a few moments to conjure his image (using memory and expectation) outside the shop.

In the outdoor patio, I encounter a friendly gathering of conversing characters relaxing at tables and chairs and a discernible DreamCamp atmosphere, but alas, no Alan, no other recognizable campmates, no goat. (And, sorry to say, no Toko in the sky.) I chat briefly with a fellow about the instability of the dream world before emerging into this (relatively) stable realm.

Abundant Aloha to all! Keelin

PS: Alan, would you categorize the poet Billy Collins as a romantic depressive? Romantic, surely, but his humor and wit are wonderful. I'm especially fond of his collection "Picnic, Lightning". Are you familiar with his work?

Keelin,

"The neighbors' dog will not stop barking. He is barking the same high, rhythmic bark that he barks every time they leave the house. They must switch him on on their way out."

Billy Collins.

Being a bit old fashioned about poetry, I simply cannot overlook the doubled 'on' in the last line. But he looks a bit like Leonard Cohen, so he can't be all bad :-)

I would never have been so rude as to vanish on you in the antique shop - so I know it wasn't me.

Love to all,

Bindle Agrunta

MAY 31 REPORT

Well, no dreamcamp, no Maui, and none of you, but the "off by 1 day" theme appeared again:

I am in a meeting of our whole company, and the CEO is showing slides that have the date wrong. They say May 31 and I know it is June 1. I consider mentioning it out loud but don't...I do ask the woman next to me "isn't today June 1?" and I think she says yes. Then I am at my desk and think about emailing the CEO about it, but feel it wouldn't be a good idea.

I do jokingly tell my boss that my late project, which I think is due June 1, "isn't late yet because the CEO thinks today is May 31."

There is some second time that someone (I don't remember who) says it is May 31 and I again say it is June 1. I double-check with a calendar...yes, next Friday is June 8, so I think that since today is Thursday it must be 7 days earlier and hence June 1 (now of course I realize that makes no sense). I think about how this means I forgot to try to dream about Maui on May 31 and I'm disappointed, but the relation to being "1 day off" still doesn't occur to me. (There's also a complicated explanation about not having recorded dreams on May 30 and that making my dream journal off by a day)

Then I realize that our wedding anniversary is June 2 (this is true in reality) and that if today is June 1 then I don't have another day to buy a present as I thought I did. I wonder where I can get a present this late at night and I rush out to a bookstore that is closing and buy a book about polar bears as a present. As I am paying for it, the customer at the next register is having trouble with her credit card which expires on June 1. She says it should work because "today isn't June 1, it's May 31." I say "that's the 3rd time today I've heard someone say it's May 31" and something about today really being June 1 and "I wonder why so many people think it's May 31". She is very insistent that it is May 31 while at the same time the cashier is saying "after 6pm the banks think it's the next day."

Finally I realize that it really is May 31 and I've been wrong all day about it. I also realize I didn't have to buy the book I'm buying (I felt somewhat dissatisfied with it), because I have another day to shop. I'm not sure whether I also realize that if it's May 31 I haven't missed the dream appointment, or maybe that occurs to me later, but I still don't notice the relation to the "off by 1 day" theme that was in my May 15 reunion-attempt dream.

OK, now are you ready for the weird part? NONE OF THIS WAS A DREAM. It all really happened during my waking life yesterday, May 31.

OK, how about the rest of you? I'd love to hear reports about what you did dream about last night, even if you never got near Maui or saw any of us. I'm also interested in what people did to stimulate memories, like Keelin looking at pictures. I tried putting on the same bug repellant I was using in Maui, figuring the smell might bring back memories.

Still, no luck, the closest I came is that the word "island" was mentioned in a dream, in a completely different context. One problem I had is that I tried to use the Nova Dreamer's "wake alarm" to wake me at 2am (11 pm Maui time) and as far as I know it never went off. I did wake up at 3:17am with no dream memory, repeated my intentions, and tried to set the "dream alarm" to wake me when the very next cue happened. It never seemed to go off either (is this confusing to non-native speakers of English? When we say an alarm "goes off" what we literally mean is that it "comes on", that it rings, but we'd never say an alarm "comes on". Ah, our weird language...). So if I did have any dreams about you around that time, I wouldn't remember them anyway by the time I woke up at 7am.

I seem to have gotten the hang of the Nova Dreamer pretty well by now, but I've just started trying to use the 2 alarms and am not having much luck.

Aloha to all!

Hi Maui dreamers, I was arriving in Lyon,en France aroun 12 o'clock European time.midnight Maui time.....I wondered if anybody would be aware of LYON that time! I thought of a gathering in the Mana Lea gardens on top of the Spiritual path, where you have the big view....Okay later in the afternoon I took a nap and I was sending a circle,as a symbol, to all of us,did anyone get this image around 7 in the morning? Saturdaynight I dreamt of saving two kids out of the water.....in another part of the dream I was with a woman Andrea is her name, she works in a hospital now,but was a doctor's assistant before.I was arranging with her all different types of cloths, for sports, etc. Saturdaynight I dreamt about my familymembers, Sundaynight I dreamt about my mother and the discussion I had with her about curtains, I wanted to renew them and she wanted to repair them The last part was a travel through Italy, first I saw the map and later on I mad a whole journey through different parts of Italy. The different towns and the different experiences I had when I really was there in 1973, 1983, 1987,1993,The first was a long travel and the last three were twice Rome and one time Bologna.I don't know yet why it was Italy this time...... And I was four days in Lyon en France ,I came back tonight so no connection to Italy! Who knows what will come up later...... Maybe a barking dog! Hermine

Hi Laura

Something amazing happened to me last 3 days. I had 3 consecutive night with lucid dreams. The first I was with a friend and suddenly I looked at him and he didn't seem very much like him. I realized then that I must be dreaming. I told him about it but he didn't understand that "this was a dream". Then we decided to make sex,and it was kind of good. The second I don't know if it was really a lucid dream, I remembered while making sex again I thought that I was doing so because I was lucid. Tonight I had an incredible one. I was in a theater with a friend watching kind of Michele Pfifer festival and when it ended I took GoldeGade as my way back. Suddenly a earthquake happened and I was on the bridge. I held a cable, going back and forward and finally felt in the ocean. Then a ship came to rescue me and they give me a hope, I was doing water sking and then I think that the boat looked so odd, looked like a big one but it was so small.I thought maybe this could be extraterester persons and than I realized that I was a dream. I tried to fly and I start going over and under very high trees. The views were fantastic, like sunset and the leaves up in the trees. Then I lost control because I moved my arm in a different manner and then I dicided to look at the sky to go to a star after I lose completly the contlol of my flight. I saw one and I fly to it. When I was very near it I felt a very nice sensation. Some kind of orgastic sansation but better. I wanted to fuse with the star but I missed it for 2 "pixel?". Then I had a false awake. I was with a friend he told me I looked so beautiful and we had a nice time. Then a woman appearand I started to tell them my dream. She told me that this was not a dream, I acctualy live that. After that I woke up. I am so exciting today with so many lucid dreams. Nice to hear from you all Beatrice

4 June 2001 ' Monday [I wore the ND last night and had a lovely LD. I call it']

"Like a Sacrament"

I am awake in my own bed, I am lying on my back. I am all snug and happy. Suddenly the bright red, mandala, NovaDreamer (ND) light goes off right in front of my eyes.

"Oh, poor little thing,' I think, referring to the ND. "It thinks I'm dreaming and I'm not.' I sigh but then think, "Oh, reality check. I'm supposed to press the button on the front of the mask. Stephen says doing that check has to be like a sacrament.' I reach up and press the button and a red light blinks. Then I think that I did the test too close to the light going off and the last red blink could have just been part of the mistaken cue. Anyway, I'm going to need to press it to delay it. So, I press it again and clearly feel the button depress and click. But no light! "Yahoo!' I think, "I'm actually dreaming.'

I try to think what I am dreaming or was dreaming because now I am convinced that the ND really did detect my REM sleep. I am remembering being in downtown Provo, Utah, where I grew up and went to college. I was at an intersection, and a man not known to me said something to me.

Just then someone in the bed next to me moves toward me. I still realize that I'm dreaming, so I think this could be anyone. I lie there in complete darkness because I still have the ND on my face. I am excited by this darkness and this not knowing. I feel a cheek touch my face. I feel razor stubble on the cheek. "Oh, I like this,' I think. Then the man starts to kiss me. It's very slow and soft and sweet. It takes my breath away.

Just then I hear Jerry's deep voice boom, "What do you think you're doing?' I move the mask off my face but still I can't see anything in the bedroom. It's pitch black. The dream man is gone. I say, "I was just dreaming.'

Then the red mandala bursts right before my eyes again. The mask is still on. [I woke then, moved the ND off my face and looked over at Jerry, who was sound asleep in the moonlit bedroom. Not a very dramatic LD, but very pleasant.]

I've been enjoying reading these open conversations. Did you see the one posting where the writer suggested that SLB is some sort of genetic mutant, predisposed to lucid dreaming? I got a real chuckle out of that. Keep writing everyone. When's the next meeting. How about on the full moon, or the new moon? Where's Robert and Dom and Betty and Wilson! And Ty!?

Then I might choose to imagine you're still there! And next time I'm in a shop of such antiques and oddities (regardless of realm) I shall keep an eye out for you.

Hey everyone!

That's the second time my posts didn't get up..oh well, lost in the ether somewhere...

I just wrote to say hi & that I have been mything you all.

As for my dreams...every night I desire lucidity but when it does come, I get so excited I spin myself awake.

I'm sure Stephen would coax me to cultivate detachment.

Beatrice; it sounds like you have a veritable goldmine of lucidities! Good for you, darling, keep digging!

Joan - thanks so much for that website - some of the artwork was terrific and surprisingly a propos.

Hermine, you are like a silver fish who swims with the currents of our psyche, speaking in underwater ways.

Ralf - Where are you? What elfish adventures have you had in your recent days?

Joe, Lorella & Shasha are great ... the other day I got the grand tour of the Shasha bakery which is a lovely mix of sweet smells, objets-trouve, persian art and flour footprints.

Alan, it is nice when you bubble up from downunder.

Laura - in the immortal words of Janis Joplin "it's all the same f*cking day, maaann"

Keelin, ever since you bumped your noggen on that Maui plane, I knew you were a goddess in underworld, I hope to explore my dreams with the same humour that propels you.

Jerry - where have you been lately? Any new installments from the writing class?

I leave you with my favorite Jungian quote:

"When an inner situation is not made conscious, it happens outside, as fate"

Love & other hallway activities,

Hello I was already thinking that my goldmine of lucid dreaming had gone Toko, but I had another one this morning. They are happening when I have an extra time to sleep in the morning. I waked up like 7:30am and decided to make a try. I don't remember how I get lucid. I was lucid dreaming with a man in my bad making experience about what we could do that I will feel in my "real body". I had great sensations. Then I had a false awake. My grandmother enter the room and woke me up. She is already dead but my lucidity were gone. Tchau Beatrice
