------------------- OCTOBER 2010 -------------------------- Here you should propose Dreams to be Featured Dreams of the Month! The chosen dream will be the Featured Dream of October!

A few characteristics are required first though: Nothing too controversialNothing rated / censoredSomething dreamt in OctoberFeel free to post if you don't agree with anything so far.

The ideal dream would include the completion of a monthly challenge, being successfully in a meeting place, or involving the completion of other lucid challenges. These last are not requisites, in fact, any cool dream would do!   It can be your own dream, but it doesn't have to. Put something that you think it's cool ( ), and then I'll ask the dreamer for permission, if his dream is chosen.

I was thinking of October 31st for deadline (so you have plenty of time ). The dream will be selected either by the Thanks it gets, or by poll going from October 31st to November 10th.

Note: The Featured Dream is always published the next month. Feel free to post something if you think that doesn't make sense.

October and awesome:

Dreamt by Akono.

QuoteI'm driving down this road, and things just feel off.  Nothing is responding to what I'm doing in real time.  I'm sort of realizing it's a dream because at this point i'm thinking, "maybe I went to sleep in a car, and the movements that are going on in waking life, are the ones that the car is doing".  I pull up to a house, and go into a mailbox. There are two dogs in the yard.  One is tied up to a dog house, and the other one is actually in the house.  I when I went for the mailbox I was hoping his chain wasn't log enough.  Surprisingly the dog didn't even bark at me.  I pulled out some letters, and noticed there were some dollar bills in there.  I grabbed most of them as well.

Some lady approaches and says "that money is from M".  "She wants us to build a cabinet with it", the lady said.  I put most of the money back in there, and asked her how much is it supposed to run you?  "40 dollars, and all of it in that mailbox", she said glaring at me.  I told her that there was only about seven bucks in there, and I'm sorry for grabbing the money.  Then I told her she's missing a few dollars in there.

here's where I start figuring things out

Some random DC walks past me, and I have a white kid with me.  The kid starts following the guy all the way to the door, and the man shuts the door, before the kid can enter.  He turned around, and headed over to me and started pouting and eventually crying.  I picked him up and told the lady "he's never done that".  Then I suggested that everyone who's supposed to have access should get keys.  She told me she already ordered colour coded keys for us, and she's just waiting on them to come in.  I headed off hoping she wouldn't notice I snatched a few dollars.  I picked up my son and hopped on the motorcycle......

Why am I driving a motorcycle? Why do I have a white kid as a son?  Where the hell am I?  Why did the kid pop out of nowhere?  I gotta be dreaming.  I didn't even RC, I just got on, and started driving down the road.  The controls were so weird, and none of the buttons on the handle bars did anything.  I continued down this dark road that reminded me of a back road near my house, and figured out that it would talk me back to my house.  I slammed on the brakes while rotating the bike 180 degrees.  I stopped perfectly in the middle of the road, and started going back the other way.

I noticed everything started getting brighter, more vivid like I was supposed to head in this direction anyway, but I had to dodge traffic the whole time.  Apparently this street was either one way, or I was going so fast that It seemed like some of the trucks had stopped.  I tried telling myself that when I pressed one of the buttons, weapons would fire, but it did nothing, so I continued dodging them until I got to the end of the street.

There were two corner stores by each other, and I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do.  When I got closer I noticed there was a cop car at one of the stores so I decided to head there.  I hopped off my bike and started cursing at the cop, and he said "I'm going to have to take you in".  I put out both of my hands, and he grabbed my wrists, and I immediately broke out of the wrist locks at the same time, and palm struck him in the chest.  The cop went reeling back several feet, and said "oh no, we got one of those guys".  His partner approached me from the side and I immediately back fisted him the face, crushing his cool cop shades into pieces.

As the other one approached, I unleashed a combo of punches mimicking some of Genes crazier moves from Godhand. I started out with a right to left jab in his chest, and hit him with a couple of overhand rights and lefts, and finished the combo with a one inch punch.  Then I headed right back to the other cop, and hit him with some of the most ridiculous moves. I yes man klabammed him twice, eye gouged him, and windmill punched him.  I used another one inch punch was hoping he'd explode like in the fist of the north star, but the guy was just dazed and bleeding from both ears for a while.  I went back to work on the other guy until the dream ended.

Given the lack of proposals, I chose this dream to be Featured Dream of November. Quote from: Alex Lou on November 21, 2010, 01:19:15 AMAnd the Leviathan Swallowed the Night I'm on a platform at the edge of the water, looking out, lost.  My husband is gone, swallowed by a giant fish, somewhere far beneath the waves.

I turn to my left and there he is beside me.  But different:  bedraggled with tangled hair and maybe bits of kelp in it . . . and something else too, he is distant, changed as if he has been through a great deal.  He opens a crumpled and soggy book he's holding (in the middle, toward the end) and starts reading the tale of how, after long journey, I finally found him in the leviathan's belly, fought our way out through its mouth, and swam in a cloud of bubbles to toward the light and the surface.  And this book is written in my voice.  This is my writing!  So this apparition before me has come from the future of our timeline . . . he isn't mine and won't be mine unless I go rescue him.

I dive into the water and plunge down into the expansive void of dark blue.  A ways below me I see the giant, gray creature, looking not so huge at this distance.  Its body twists like an eel's as it swims toward me, quickly bridging the distance.  I command that the creature give my husband back.  Its skull is so much bigger than me.  Its pointy snout is fixed the way some animal's mouths are, in a wicked grin.  When it opens it's mouth, it reveals two very long arcs of small pointed teeth.  So easily it could snap me up.  Would those teeth rip into my flesh, ending my life?  Or would I be swallowed whole?  It seems impossible that my husband could survive such a thing . . . why am I even here?  And yet somewhere inside me I can sense him breathing, his heart beating.

Without sound, the beast has denied me as he smiles at me.  I yell, "Let him go!  Let him go!"  My voice sounds frantic and desperate.  The fish offers me a deal:  that I should go and work in the micro-city in his innards, and perhaps, eventually, he will allow me to be reunited with my husband.  I agree.  Those jaws open wide, go up, over, and beneath me, enclosing me in darkness.

I find myself in a civilization made of small twisting corridors with moist pink walls.

They had been expecting me and assign me to the gallbladder where I am to clean.  In the gallbladder, they give me a bunk and a locker and assign me tasks and a schedule.  The intention is that I only have time to work in my waking hours.  I don't know any of the rules and keep messing things up.  But, I persevere.  I'm told that in a few weeks I may be moved up in the digestive tract.  I have no idea where my husband is in this city, but I know that's the right direction.

Well, given that I can't wait forever, and following the policy of When there are no candidates, go the Month's Challenges and Meeting Places, I thought of Armored Bore's dream, featuring the recently mentioned in an article, CWILD technique: Quote from: Armored Bore on December 05, 2010, 01:58:51 PMSo, I tried Moonbeam's caffeine technique, and I think I got someplace with it. Alex got up for work earlier this morning and brought me some coffee, which I slammed down as quickly as I could (really glad I diluted the Columbian Death Elixir with as much almond milk I could fit in the cup). At first I was laying awake and afraid that I just sabotaged my sleep, but after a while my eyes started getting heavy again and I started to sleep.

It started out as a white phosphene cloud, but unlike the usual night my mind was clear enough that I was able to concentrate on the image of the North Pole. I don't know how long it took- minutes, or just seconds- but before I knew it I saw ice flows below me. I started looking for people to meet with, but I remembered I actually didn't read what everyone was going as. I could only remember Alex as a wolverine and Serenity as... uh, herself? As I thought about them, they seemed to appear on an ice flow before me. They were too far away for me to see, but I saw some small creature, a person, and maybe a winged ferret. I tried circling around to get another look, but by then my concentration had waned and I was in a North Pole gift shop.

Some other bits along the way. Wandering through what looked like a derelict school. It looked a bit like the middle school I went to, or at least the blocky buildings and open spaces reminded me of it. It had also become grimy from age and infested with Blood Elf hoodlums.

Towards the end, I woke up in some small bunker-ish room. It was dark, but I could see some large green person getting up out of a bed nearby. She asked "Is she awake?" so I could only assume I'd swapped sexes again. I vaguely remember a menu with dialogue options pop up, with responses in tone options ranging from "Ugh, where am I?" to "Tell me where I am RIGHT NOW [explaitive][explaitive]" Whatever I chose, it seemed to cause a fight between the other dwellers, who all reached for their elaborately cruel-looking weaponry. Before anything could happen, their leader came out of the shower and calmed them all down. I think he said they had work to do, but I didn't hear what. I think it was something actually benign, like a ninja delivery service or historical pre-enactment troop.

Probably a typo, but I like the idea of an "historical pre-enactment".

Armored Bore hasn't replied yet, so I went to the chat yesterday looking for a substitute. And one of our chat regulars suggested this dream: Quote from: Naiya on December 26, 2010, 11:12:08 PM12/26

The Devil and the Ex

Nightmare: I remember I was in sort of a high-class loft apartment and I'd been there a while. I can barely remember walking around the rooms, but I don't know what I was doing. I think I was stressed out about something. Nobody else was in the apartment I think. Then someone was at the door and I saw that it was my ex boyfriend. I was a little rattled to see him there out of the blue, but I didn't want to just shut the door on his face. He invited me downstairs and so we went down and ended up in sort of a big department store. He was a little drunk I think, because he was acting very strange. Then he started to look for clothes for himself, taking a really long time to try things on. I thought it was so bizarre because he always hated clothes shopping before and would wear nothing but plain jeans and T-shirts.

I started to pick some stuff up too; I figured I might as well shop for myself while I was waiting. I went over to the dressing room, and there were two guys in front of me, both very very tall. One of them had his elbow in my face because he was leaning on the wall, and I shifted away from him in annoyance. When he saw this, he started to get angry, saying I wouldn't move away from him if he was the pretty white guy, pointing to the man in front of him. I was sort of offended that he was basically accusing me of being racist. I wanted to tell him that first of all, he was barely black in the first place...he was hardly even darker than myself. Sheesh. I refrained from being bitchy though, saying that it was just because his elbow was in my face and we ended up chatting for a couple of minutes which seemed to make the other guy uncomfortable with the whole situation. After that I saw my ex come out of the dressing room, saying it was time to go. Then he said something, a couple of sentences, in a language totally foreign to me. I wondered if it was Tagalog, but I was confused because he always refused to speak his native tongue to me while we were dating. I followed him, still holding a pile of clothes.

He said he was going to go home now, and I told him I worried about him because I didn't want him to drive home if he was drunk. He said he would take the train in that case, and so I insisted on walking him there to make sure he would be okay. I left the clothes on a rack and we went out of the store, suddenly going through a sort of underground tunnel that reminded me of a subway system. I was confused, looking around for the train. We ended up standing in front of an arched doorway which was made of what seemed to be white and creme marble, covered in ornate patterns.

We went through, and came into a small room with a similar doorway on the other side. The room was empty, except for a bizarre dog-like creature, which seemed to have come right out of one of the carvings. It was like a cross between a sculpture and a skeleton dog. It jumped and snapped at us, but it wouldn't touch us so I wasn't very afraid. Before my ex opened the second door, I noticed that on it was a very voluptuous woman on it. When we went through, I saw her in the next room, naked and dancing wildly, generally ignoring us. Like the dog, she looked exactly like a living statue.

I was starting to get pretty creeped out by this place, and I noticed how nonchalant my ex was, so I started to get wise and I told him to go through the next door himself. Instead, he opened it so wide that he hid behind it and the creature beyond could look directly at me. I mentally cursed my ex and stepped into the final room, having nowhere else to go now. The man sat in a chair made of what looked like human bones, his legs crossed. Unlike the woman, he seemed to be wearing clothes; creme robes which matched the marble. He smiled, but there was something off about the way he looked too. I tried very hard to remember after I woke, but I wasn't able to remember exactly what he looked like; only that he had a humanish form and was a man. I remember that he greeted me warmly though, and immediately began talking about something he wanted me to do for him. I said nothing, peering behind him instead. I could see what was beyond the room; a lake of magma and what looked like the inside of a volcano. Hmm. Lovely view, anyway. The man started to tell me about becoming immortal and about a great city which rested on this special kind of mineral or ore. There were creatures which would eat or destroy this ore, however, and it was putting their civilization in danger. When he finished talking, I said something to the effect of "So those things eat your city walls? Hm, wow that sucks to be you guys" as I was examining the carvings on the wall. I woke up then.
