------------------- MAY 2010 -------------------------- OK, as some of you may have already noticed, our Featured Dream of the Month is a bit... delayed. Here you should propose Dreams to be Featured Dreams of the Month! Given the date we're on, the chosen dream will probably be featured in June.
A few characteristics are required first though: Nothing too controversialNothing rated / censoredFeel free to post if you don't agree with anything so far.
The ideal dream would include the completion of a monthly challenge, being successfully in a meeting place, or involving the completion of other lucid challenges. These last are not requisites, in fact, any cool dream would do [/list]
First, thank you for taking over this responsibility!!!
And I would like to offer this one for consideration: http://mortalmist.com/forum/dream-journals/the-alternate-universe-of-pj/msg82017/#msg82017
Thank you, SS.
Check out the third dream here - from mu. . . short but very cool: http://mortalmist.com/forum/dream-journals/mu%27s-unnamed-dream-journal/msg82858/#msg82858
Very cool dreams you two had!

SS, that's my vote! (http://mortalmist.com/forum/dream-journals/the-alternate-universe-of-pj/msg82017/#msg82017)
If I have enough dreams until 4th of June, I'll make a poll, and delay the Featured Dream until 10th of June. Otherwise, I'll publish the Featured Dream right on day 4.
Does that seem OK to you?
It's fine SS, whatever you want to do.
It's your baby, SS.
Quote from: pj on June 02, 2010, 07:53:53 AMIt's your baby, SS. I'm just the nanny.
Done
Great job SS! And fine choice of dream.
Was it hard?
Quote from: mu on June 05, 2010, 03:15:40 AMGreat job SS! And fine choice of dream.
Was it hard? No, should it be?
Hey. . . thank you!!!
I was going to make a new thread for June, but since all links point to this, and this one is also a sticky, I'll continue here. I thought it was better to launch the announcement earlier to see if we get more offerings.
Here you should propose Dreams to be Featured Dreams of the Month! The chosen dream will be the Featured Dream of June!
New thread: post your suggestions for Featured Dream of June here!
I would suggest, then, going ahead and starting a new thread. Post a link to it here, and then we'll unsticky this one and sticky the new one.
Let me know what you decide to do.

I like this freaky and cool dream of Moonbeam's:
Quote from: Moonbeam on June 24, 2010, 07:36:11 AM Demon Named Alfred Helps Me out of SP
(Trying to go back to sleep; SP hits me suddenly.) I get some vibrations, but I'm not sure if I'm asleep yet. I can open and close my eyes, but still, I don't know. Shadows are moving around the room, ominous scary shapes, and voices whisper things I try not to hear; I know it will be something scary and bad that I don't want to know. Something is weighing me down. I can move my arm, and I try swinging it a little bit to try and break my body free, but it doesn't work. OK, I was just giving somebody advise about this problem earlier today; surely I can get out. I try to roll out of bed, but it feels like I'm rolling my real body. I'm afraid I'm going to fall out of bed. I think I'm probably not really moving, the odds of me actually throwing myself out of bed are very low, but I'm not sure enough to continue. My mind feels very clear and lucid; it's my body that's the problem. I really wish I knew how much my real body was moving.
I lie still for a moment, wondering how to proceed. The shapes and shadows and whispers continue but I ignore them. Suddenly a disembodied hand and arm reaches down from the ceiling. Egads, that's kind of scary. Do I have the nerve to grab it? It's obviously reaching for me. I think it's the only way I'm going to get out, so I reach up and take it. It grasps me strongly, but I'm afraid I will let go, so I reach my other hand up and grab the forearm. When I get a good grip, the hand pulls me up and out of my body.
It's a demon! It's a man, but he's like a devil or demon or something like that. We're on the roof, and I've gone from just grasping his arm to holding him around his body with my arms and legs. He leaps into the sky, flying with big, red, feathered wings. I look up at him--oh, it's the man from the truck, but he's not a man, I guess. He doesn't seem very scary for a demon, really. He flies with his wings and I hold on. I'm aware of his chest being naked, but not sure about the rest of him. My arms are just behind his wings, my head below his chest, and my legs around his waist, so I'm hugging him and holding on from below as he flies.
I ask him his name. He says his full name, something like "Alfred (middle initial) (last name). I hear him, but it's like I do IRL if I'm not concentrating--I forget people's names as soon as I hear them, it's a very bad habit I have. Then suddenly I can't see him anymore, he's completely invisible. I'm still holding onto him, and can still feel his wings flapping, but I can see the sky and stars, like he's not there at all. It's wonderful and freaky, being carried by an invisible thing like this, very different than flying on my own. I ask him, "Do you turn invisible so that people can't see you?" He just grunts, like that was a stupid question. (I guess it was.)
We land, and he appears again, without his wings, and dressed now, in black clothes. Where we are is similar to where his truck was parked before. He says he's really hungry, he's gotta get something to eat; all he's had that day is a cup of coffee. He seems kind of ordinary and not demon-like at all. I don't know where we are going to get something to eat. There are trees and paths but I don't see any lights or hear any noise; there doesn't seem to be anywhere to go, but he says he knows a place.
I apologize and say I didn't quite get his name, it was Alfred....what else? I get a thought; surely he didn't say "Alfred E. Neuman. I start laughing, wondering if that's what he said...it could have been, but I'm not sure, no, I don't think so, but what was it, I can't remember...I look over and he turns his head away from me, seeming to be exasperated and annoyed by stupidity. (Drat, wake up again! But I'm glad I have another DC to look for.)
Thank you both for you participation!
I'll open the polls in a few hours.
Maybe we'll get a few more suggestions. I guess we have to wait until June's over to choose the finest dreams of June.
Nice banner.
I thought I should post feist's dream too, for better comparison:
Quote from: feist303 on June 14, 2010, 05:45:49 PMThe last lucid hero! (awesome dream control!) Long low level lucid in wich i couldn't break free from the plot, but had great dream control!
First i get to see a movie, three friends of mine are lined up in the front yard the old girl's school in my hometown. A military general tries to knock em out with a big bat or something. My friend V and someone else (?) can avoid the hit and get away. But my friend J gets hit in the head and dies...
Later i'm at this place with my friend E. He tells me i need to save J, and revive him, he gives me some artifact (?) wich i can use for this. We then load my friend J's body in a big black sports bag. While doing this i think about the building behind me, it's MM, and i guess it will act as a morgue for my dead friend? I think to myself that i need to change my username if all my family and friends are gonna come overthere...
Then there's a car coming over, we suspect it to be a friend of the military general. So i must flee and take J's body with me. I run uphill towards the policestation. The car stops in front of the old girl's school and doesn't seem to pay much attention to me. I then walk up on a driveway across the street, and then fly up behind the houses so i can spy on the car from up in the air...
Later i'm sitting on a toilet. It's just a big room with 4 toilets and the others are also taken, we can all see eachother wile we're taking a dump... I notitce the guy next to me just gets up with cleaning himself up... Hmmm... I quickly grab a magazine next to my toilet and go through it untill the other's are done and gone. Then i finish up and leave...
I walk throught the building and enter a room, some of my family was waiting inside. I sit down with my uncle M and his wife, their son Th is also with us. We talk about their death son To, he's been killed by the general and we discuss what needs to be done now... (So now it isn't my friend J who died anymore, but it's my nephew To) While we discuss this i play around with a small transformer robot. I tell my nephew Th that these toys haven't change that much since my youth. Eventually we come to a conclusion, the parents don't want to take action. Me and their son don't agree with them. Their son then gives me the key to his pink car (?). I can use it for my mission. I then grab my backpack from the table and load it up with clothes, some sweaters and a jacket... We then get up and leave the parents, by now there's a third person with us, can't recall who. He says something to the father about the death son. I can't recall what he said, but i remember thinking that he went out of line by doing so. But the father does take it well so...
Then me and my nephew walk past the store below my house, towards the skatepark / elementary school. By now i'm carrying the big black bag with the body again. We come at the skatepark and there's alot of people walking here. There's military men guiding them away, no one is allowed to go near the elementary school. We get caught up to and get forced to follow along to the area behind the skatepark. On the way i sneak out and decide that the military men cannot see me! Technically they can see me but i decide that they can't! I sneak up till i'm almost at the gates of the elementary school. Some guy tries to enter the gate but he gets shot down by a sniper. I decide that the sniper isn't gonna hit me, he will shoot but he'll mis! I run over and as i get closer i can see there's a hole in the bar. As i walk through it the sniper takes his shot and i hear it bounce of the steel gates! I make my way over the courtyard to the gate at the other side of the school.
Again there's a hole in the gate and i just walk through. On the other side i can see two fat latino guys standing by a car in the distance. I know they are up to no good. There's also a white old crappy car standing there, hmmm, this is not the pink speedy car my nephew had in mind for me... I run over it and i know that the latino's are up to no good. I know they'll shoot me, but again i will them to miss... I get inside the car, there's no backseat and it's filled with junk! The front seats are cut of, so you can still sit but there's nothing to rest your back on anymore. I throw the big black bag inside and get in. I take my nephew's key out of my pocket, it's just the key to my room but i threat it like the pink car's key in the dream. I realise it isn't fit for the car but i will it to work. I don't even look at the key hole and just plug it in somewhere below the wheel and start the car! By now the fat latino's have gotten in their car and are driving towards me. I take of and the car drives very slow and crappy. I then think to myself that this isn't a crappy white car, it's my nephew's pink car, nice and fast! I speed up and drive away from the latino's!
Published Demon Named Alfred as Featured Dream of June.
Excellent choice!
Thanks guys I'm honored. That was a particularly memorable dream for me.

Quote from: pj on July 30, 2010, 07:02:36 AMLucid At Home
I am an adult, but at my childhood home. I have been off work for two days, and skipped school too. I decide to head out and catch my writing class, even though it might make me late for the ballgame.
As I am going out, I look back and see my mother reclined on the couch, watching TV. Something isn't right about this. . . isn't mom dead? I RC and sure enough, I'm dreaming.
I walk back into the living room and crouch down, looking mom right in the face. She smiles at me, and I at her. I ask her how she is doing, and she says fine. I ask if there wasn't anything she could have done to stay more active and able. She replies that she did all she wanted to and it was her own decision and her own business. She says this very pleasantly, telling me in her own way that I am not to feel guilty or bad about what ended up happening to her. I ask her to please get up off the couch. She says, "You're going to be late for school and the ball game. And don't forget your tickets - they are on my dresser."
I walk into her room, thinking that I should really try a goal or something, but I don't want to disrupt this dream. There is nothing on the dresser, so I pick up nothing, open up the envelope that isn't there and check out the two tickets that aren't there either. I put them in my pocket. As I walk out, I glance into my room, which looks like it has been ransacked - the furniture is all out of place and everything is thrown everywhere. I don't pause - just walk on by - but wonder if the aquarium has been dumped. As I walk out, I am tempted to walk through the walls or fly out, but I want to see mom one more time so I just play along. In the living room I turn and smile at her, and she looks very content and peaceful. She waves as I go out the garage door.

Here's my nomination.
Quote from: Vex KittenPyro War
I am in a dark, unfamiliar house. I don't know where I am. I don't remember how I got here. I decide to RC. I chomp down on my finger.
Surprise... I'm Dreaming.
I'm not overly excited. I move out onto a balcony and look over the dream scene. I'm in an old city, houses are constructed of stone. Beyond the squat, stone homes I can see the silhouette of fat, full leaved trees against a twilit horizon. I look up to the sky. It is mostly naked of stars except for one patch of sky that has a spattering of stars that form a familiar but croweded constellation. I want to fly to it.
I try to lift off of the balcony so I can soar to the stars. I can't seem to catch in the air. Damn dream gravity. I leap over the balcony and hope that I will catch air on the way down. No dice. I land softly upon the cobble stone road below. Hmmmm.
An idea occurs. If I can whip up a wind around me it can carry me up into the sky high enough to catch flight. I swing my arms around quickly and feel a light, torando like wind beginning to whirl around me. I begin lifting from the ground. Haha! Success! I get up into the sky and start floating lazily along.
When I feel sturdy I focus all my intent on the splatter of stars I want to get to. I begin zipping higher. Tree branches suddenly appear out of no where and I have to slow and shove them aside before I can continue climbing to heaven. This happens a few times until I become frustrated and demand the trees leave me alone. I am free to fly.
I pass over a massive hilly field in which a war appears to be raging. Upon closer inspection it is not a war but one group of people using fire to herd another group of people. I look away from the scene and think, 'None of my business... " and keep flying. After a few moments my conscious gets the better of me. I should go back and help the oppressed group of people.
I fly back and land between the pyros and their human herd. They begin yelling at me in a different language, and in fast forward by the sound of it. I can't understand them. They can't understand me. So I simply put my hand up in a STOP gesture and tell them to leave these people alone.
The pyros laugh and begin flinging fire at me. With a lazy wave of my hand I redirect the balls of fire above and around me and the herd. The pyros are not impressed and they start flinging even more fire balls at me. I keep deflecting and redirecting the fire until I become bored with this. I don't want to waste my dream fighting off these idiots.
"Turn and leave" I yell as I point out their path of retreat. They apparently don't want to retreat and instead advance on me. I really am tired of this scene and want to get back to the stars. I fill my lungs with as much air as possible (which was a hell of a lot more than I thought I could) and I let out a primal, rabid roar. It is so loud that it shakes the entire dream. Those directly in the path of the roar, the pyros, freeze and then shatter a moment later. The freezing and shattering happens in a domino-like way until all the pyros are wiped out. Feeling kind of proud of myself I turn to speak with the herd. They are all gone. They must have fled at some point durning the little war. Damn it.
I turn toward my stars and leap into the air. Nothing. I try the arm whirling thing again. Nothing. I run and jump into the air repeatedly to try to catch flight. Nothing.. nothing... nothing. "FUCK!!!" I yell at the sky. I knew this would happen. I continue on, walking toward the stars and hoping that when I get close enough I can jump up, grab a hold and pull myself into their midst.
I don't remember making it to the stars.
If Vex Kitten doesn't confirm it until September 10th (excluding), I shall feature wolven's dream: (click to show/hide)QuoteA Late Night Rescue. Saturday, August 28, 2010 Clarity 4/5 Lucidity 0/5
We're on a dark road, heading towards this werehouse out towards the middle of nowhere because one of our friends, Cory (That is, me), needs our help. For this part of the dream I seem to be split. We're on the phone with someone at the warehouse and are getting information, however given the fact that there are only two people (one of them myself) there and I'm pretty sure neither of them were the ones on the phone, neither of them seems likely. In any case, we were on the phone, and we were finding out what was happening.
The entire story wasn't clear, but as we found out, I was in the warehouse, and I was pregnant. (As I later find out I have a female lower half.) This other guy had somehow found out I was there, and he was using psychological warfare to make me too weak to move or really do anything. This kid, for lack of a better word, had come along and helped me, as best I can tell for no other reason than he thought it was the right thing to do. He had made this vitamin formula, I believe called EzVitamin, and he was using that to try to revitalize me. It worked for a while, but the 'attacker' (who wasn't even there physically, but rather over the phone or something) had found out the formula to it and was using his knowledge of it to make it ineffective in the same way he was keeping me too weak to leave from the bed.
I'm now back inside of my body at the warehouse, laying in the hospital bed, and the kid who was helping me was there beside me. He wasn't very tall, and the bed (gurney?) I was in came up to his upper chest, but I was extremely grateful to him for having helped me, and I didn't really care about how tall he wasn't. By the time I got back to my body I was strong enough to do some basic movements around the bed, but that was it. Sitting up, I noticed that there was a tiny fetus the size of my fist in a bunch of slimy red stuff (placenta, everyone insisted on calling it every five seconds) between my legs. It wasn't alive, obviously. It was at this point that everyone else arrived.
It was nice when everyone else arrived, because I knew I was safe. I can't remember any one thing clearly, but I remember people passing by my bed, a few people crowding around to see and try to help me, one of them giving me something to replace the ineffective vitamin formula. Throughout this, I was just trying to find the kid who had been helping me before they got there, because I felt safe with him around and I didn't want him to go too far. At some point, everyone started getting into their own hospital beds and checking themselves out, presumably to make sure there wasn't anything 'that guy' could use against me. The kid, whom I don't clearly remember, got the hospital bed beside mine, which I was grateful for.
At some point, the bed ended up rotated ninety degrees clockwise and moved to the top far end of the row of beds that I had been on. The black girl who seemed to be in charge of the rescue committee announced that one of them needed to come help me with the placenta. At this point, I'm pretty sure the fetus looked up at me and winked. It was extremely cute, though the least bit disturbing. In any case, at this point I'm doing my best to move all of the red slime away from myself. It is at this point I notice my female parts below the waist, though in the dream I don't even think about it.
The last image of the dream is somewhat dissociated, but it is of me laying in the bed at its final position in the dream holding some slimy mass of flesh that's vaguely triangular and has a face like this smiley when its eyes recede into its head: Creepy.
Comments: The fetus in the dream was almost like an object to me. It was supposed to be dead, so I felt no attachment to it like I would a child. That's why the thing looking up at me and winking struck me as so odd/cute.
If you thought of something else, don't hesitate.
Wolvendeer's dream (see above) has been chosen as Featured Dream of August.

Watching
I find myself in a place that seems very deep within other places, somehow a still center of them while they radiate outwards, all belonging to different dreams, and none quite fully present, but carrying on in their own times.
It is very cold, everything still and frozen; though everything seems quite physical I know that it is not. It takes the form of a small room with every inch of the walls covered in books and strange writing. I know that there are things, events, and consciousness instead of walls, but this is how I perceive them, and the only other thing here is a candle on a wooden table. The room is so still that the flame never flickers.
Only when I think and watch the candle does it begin to move, and with it a profound effect takes hold of the walls. They become more like the insubstantial things they really are; symbols swirl in spirals, to become like the eyes of an other I feel watching, or like portals to a very light place of unformed dreams. I suddenly leap into them without having decided.
I arrive sitting in the middle of a plain of grass, under very dark blue-green night sky, with an enormous moon; surrounded by multitudes of dreamers, all doing the same, watching our master the moon in stillness and silence. I know that everyone is here (from MM) but there is no individuality; all wear simple robes and I can't see their faces.. Startlingly humble before the moon, all that is incredible about them are their hands--each has one hand that is intensely radiant with many branching fingers; they will soon use them in a massive tide to change the outer swirling realities.
My consciousness leaves me; I see us all one at a time.. From place to place, through no effort of my own, I am jolted to within inches of all of their faces--and they have none. The closer I am drawn, the more featureless, like balls of light they become. I feel a strange and heavy sadness because I can not see them, yet there is the still bliss, and I know they are hidden deep within their own minds, seeing beyond their eyes as they sink from this reality.

Quote from: Raven_Knight on September 08, 2010, 04:15:45 AMI went outside and started walking, the weather wasn't as hot as I had expected it to be, so I thought this walk might actually end up being a decent length one. The main road near my house is under heavy construction, so I didn't think it would be very pleasant to walk there right now, so I decided to look in other directions. I headed down a path I had never noticed before and I soon found the landscape changing around me, I was slowly leaving the desert landscape and entering a forest of trees. That seemed really odd… odd enough for me to do a RC, which revealed I was dreaming!
So now that I realized I was dreaming, I stopped to think of my goals for the night… at first I couldn't think of any of them, but I finally thought of the one from Mortal Mist where the goal was to explore a forest and note all of the details of the season long with the animals, weather, and other details. That would be a nice relaxing dream to have right now, so I thought I would do that. I walked through the trees, looking at the place and making note of all of the details I could, the trees were beautiful, the leaves were blowing in a gentle breeze, all of them were changing color to various shades of red, orange, yellow, blue, purple, and teal… um… blue, purple, and teal? Well, that didn't matter, this was a dream forest after all… I wondered if there are places where the leaves really do turn to shades of blue and purple, then I thought of course there are! I'm in one!
I continued walking through the forest, making note of and enjoying every detail I could take in, the feel of the cool breeze on my skin, the smell of the trees… it smelled like it might rain soon… I listened to the birds singing in the trees, the crunch of the fallen leaves on the ground as I walked through them, I caught glimpses of small animals running around in the trees, several squirrels, a couple of bunnies. One of the squirrels was quite brave, it ran right up in front of me to grab a fallen nut and then ran back to the trees and disappeared into its branches, I figured the squirrel was storing food for the winter. I saw more movement in the trees, and this time a fox emerged, cute! The fox was definitely brave, the fox came trotting right over to me and looked at me as if he expected me to pet him. Wait a minute… that fox could be none other than Pablo!
I sat down in the fallen leaves and stroked Pablo, the dream had become so vivid as I focused on every detail, the fox's fur was so silky and soft as I pet him. Pablo was a red tailed fox with a white chest, red fur on most of his body, dark brown feet, a long fluffy tail, most of the tail was red like the rest of Pablo, but the tip of the tail was pure white. What I noticed most that I couldn't get over was how soft the fur was, as soft as petting a cat, it was too soft to resist putting my arms around him and giving him a hug, burying my face in that soft fur. I saw movement near a tree and I looked, there was an animal I didn't recognize digging a hole in the ground near the base of the tree, I figured that would be a den, I wondered if that might harm the tree to dig right there… Pablo changed from an adult red tail fox to a fox cub so I could scoop him into my arms and continue walking, such a cute fox cub… I carried Pablo farther down the trail until I found a stream flowing across the path, the sound of the stream was so clear, the water was also clear, I could see some small fish swimming around in it. There were rocks positioned perfectly for crossing the stream, things were so clear that I could clearly see the difference between the dry rock and the wet rock that was being splashed by the stream.
I had to do a RC again, because I thought I would soon forget I was dreaming if I didn't remind myself, so I re-confirmed that I was dreaming before crossing the stream… and then the fox disappeared from my arms! I was momentarily alarmed, then I realized Pablo had probably just woken up, so I got down on my knees by the stream and splashed some of the cool water on my face, and it felt wonderful. I sat there for a bit longer, letting myself take in the details of the blue sky which I could see between the trees on either side of the stream, and there were some fluffy white clouds drifting across the sky… nothing looked like rain, I wondered why it smelled like rain… I got up and headed back into the forest, watching the birds flying around as if they were in a hurry to get something important done. I was walking down the path, getting close to forgetting it was a dream, when a huge shadow fell over the forest, a huge dark shadow. I also heard a loud "THWUMP… THWUMP…" sound from overhead and felt a rush of strong wind blowing down from above. This wind felt a bit chilly, and many of the colorful leaves that had been hanging on to the trees now fell off and blew around in the hurricane type winds. I looked up just in time to see a huge winged creature fly overhead, creating the wind as it flapped its massive wings.
The animal had flown farther along the path, so I followed the path faster, I really wanted to see what that thing had been. I knew it was a dream, so I had no fear that I would be in danger from it. I finally exited the thick part of the forest into a large clearing, a meadow, and I spotted several deer running past me and disappearing into the shelter of the forest. Whatever that thing was, the animals were scared of it, and maybe with good reason. I looked up and I could hardly believe my eyes… it was a dragon! A huge dragon, it flew over the meadow, swooped around in a large arc, and then returned to the meadow. It flapped its massive wings to slow down and land, the force of the wind almost knocked me over, and finally it landed and roared a deafening sound. Wow! The dream was so vivid and now I was meeting a dragon! Awesome! I had barely found a bit of voice to my awe, "Wow… you are absolutely AWESOME!" I said to the dragon, "Absolutely AMAZING!" I stood there taking in the details of the dragon, his size… he was huge… his scales, they were of various colors of greens and browns, but all of them glistened in the sunlight like gems… he had claws like spears on each of his limbs, teeth, huge white teeth, and his wings! He really could make a hurricane with those wings! I was sure of it!
