Deuce - hey man :-)

Its not that New years is a sad time its just weirdly pointless, its just another day and the whole country goes crazy about it. Its the fake "yeah! this yeah will be different" or " this year im gonna do..." when they could do it at any point if they wanted to. I  just dont like it ha ha its like valentines day, fathers day, mothers day. Its a money making scam because why would you only celebrate your mum father etc etc on only one day and not the whole year? seems weird to me.

he he mate you shouldnt focus on fuck ups :-) positive thinking has a lot to be said for it :-)

DREAMS FOR 31 MARCH 2010

A few dreams, lacking in detail really but meh a dreams a dream

-I am playing some kind of game and I am playing as Arnie, probably some kind of predator game. I am frustrated becaus eI am trying to teach mum how to play but I just cant get her to understand.

-A bit of PDP here, I am teaching my girlfriends flatmate about the BT phone packaging. I can see the blank stare he is giving me. Poor bloke he is completely completely useless. (in real life he has a IQ of 65 and you can tell) Its annoying in a way because if he tells me he does not understand I can try explaining a different way but he just nods along. I know his stupidity is going to cost money in the long run sigh!

-I am witnessing the origin of life on earth, deep down in the ocean at a thermal vent were the heated water creates vesicles out of floating lipids. Somehow I can see on the microscopic level and I am witnessing the amino acids floating in amongst the vesicles, the process of polymerisation of amino acids within the vesicles. Its awesome.

-I am gardening and I hear someone has been murdered. Weirdly I have these sticky plastic golf ball things, I know they cause things to burn but for some reason they make me look guilty. I open the door to the green house and some woman is having sex there... WTF is going on?!

-I help my cousin A to redo his report because its not worded in a scientific way.

DREAMS FOR 01 APRIL 2010

Stupid Philosophy Student

I am shouting at a stupid hippy/ philosophy student type, they really piss me off. I am explaining that if something is repeatedly shown to exist i.e. you observe and effect which is stable across time and situation and that the effect has evidence from multiple disciplines supporting it then it is more real then an idea that is unobservable an has no evidence. She, using pseudo philosophical thinking, says that if you cant disprove something then it must be considered an option.

Even after clarifying her misconceptions about the word "proof" which she ignores, she wont even admit that something that has huge amounts of evidence to support it is more real then something that has none. This annoys me, whats wrong with these people furthermore why do I care so much! arrgh! even in my dreams I keep inflicting myself with these people.

Eating a Dwarf

We build a boat out of scrap wood and carpet, I have no idea how this thing floats but it does. We are travelling along a river very fast and it crashes, I check the ship and there are no holes phew! suddenly a dwarf appears and goes mad trying to eat people. We restrain him and  the chef turns him into a soup which we eat

I am helping my GF apply for jobs, we are using stupid photos and silly buzz words like employable.

Ugh, no more philosophy please, I just finished that class >.> but yea, those type are annoying with the "you're always wrong because there's no right" view on life. Sounds like you've been dealing with them a lot? Something happen?

I don't even think the phrase "survival of the fittest" underscores how trippy that dwarf dream was.

Lucid Bulbs - Yeah alot of those sorts of people, its becoming frustrating to be honest and I am beginning to loose all patience and respect for them. My degree in psychology is very revealing of not just how people think but of the scientific method. Actually learning to put it into practise makes it all the more eye opening. It really is a pleasure to see it at work, the evidence based approach is simply beautiful for revealing the inner workings of how things work. Yet it is hi-jacked and kidnapped by people who know nothing about it.

But those people are everywhere with the stupid opinions and pseudo-science. The perfect example is this website. I got involved in a debate about dualism. ie the mind being separate from the body, I took the natural evidenced based (real) side of the debate only to have demands of evidence thrust upon me. Thats fine and all I would expect (and would not have been an issue had any of the people I argued against provided evidence of their stance which they didnt) so I provided about 8 peer reviewed articles to back up all the points I made and people either 1. ignored them and continued with their ridiculously stupid point of view that to anyone who knows anything about psychology can see straight through 2. quote mined what I had said and what the articles had said to misrepresent and thus attack my points (this really pissed me off hence no longer being part of the conversation) 3. used the utterly ridiculous you cant 100% disprove it therefore any flight of fancy I have has to be true. Sigh :-(

Now I noticed the front page of the MM sight has changed, and whilst I was initially very curious I quickly became concerned, then annoyed. I notice there is a "scientific research" section which is meant to be one of the focuses of the bored.... BUT as usual there isnt anything scientific about it, I mean in Dr Ts (not a personal attack by the way just stating a point) introduction he even states that there is scientific evidence for PSI phenomenon which there is very little of, in fact in double blind experiments the results tend to equate with chance occurrence only yet he states that  "Science is slowly catching up with what people have known for a long time. PSI is real." errr no, just NO. Research shows that there are psychological processes taking place but they are naturalistic not supernatural in fact his very point about creative attributes in brain research and psi event recognition are given as a naturalistic explanation against PSI in research! Its simply that people who are more creative interpret events in a more creative (though not very true) way, they link things together to form explanations that are not always reflective of reality (one person sees a shadow the other sees a ghost, it doesnt mean the ghost exists just that one person used creativity in her decision making process rather then logic).

Sigh... I just loose hope sometimes especially as a student of psychology to see the beautiful and wonderful field of dreaming being spat upon by unrealistic, new age tosh. I hate it.

Sorry for the rant, I just need to get it off my chest.

I will update my dreams tonight, I am off to see clash of the titans now woohoo
