Dean, Congratulations!!!

Hello!
Whoa!!! Had my first lucid dream! About 5-10 minutes of dream time!
So I was dreaming I was on this road in my car, then saw this other car on the side of the road -- a police car of some sort -- so I stepped out to look through one of the open 2-3 doors, but then suddenly realized that the road was moving and both cars were obviously moving on it. There was a cop on the other side of the car (standing outside of it). I looked at him and said "hey, this is strange, we're moving!", and he said "yeah, and who's driving your car?". I looked back, and then looked at the moving road, and suddenly realized and said "heeeeeey, i'm dreaming! whoa, i'm lucid dreaming!!!", and I told the cop "don't worry, the car can take care of itself". I hopped on the cop car, and as if I'm riding some sort of sleigh, I made it accelerate and angle towards the rock wall on the left "let's have fun with this a bit!". Then I thought "hey, how about I have this girl I know join me for the ride", so I suddenly saw her on the left on some other flying device (can't remember what exactly). she extended her hand and jumped, but I couldn't grab her hand, so she fell down. I tried to imagine grabbing her and pulling her up, but I had already lost sight of her. oh well... i eventually started feeling like i was waking up, and even opened my eyes, which interestingly didn't feel much different than dreaming, closed them again, and found myself in some house freshly painted in white. I walked around and down the stairs, vaguely feeling like I've been there before. at the same time, I'm wondering what else I could be wanting to do in my dream, and at the same time realizing i shouldn't be thinking about it tooo too hard since i'm so close to waking up. i eventually made it to the ground floor where some guy is watching tv with earphones. he looks a bit more simple (IQ-wise) than the average person, but very sweet. I give him a hug, vaguely wondering why he's there. again, i feel myself waking up, so i look at my hands, and when i see them, i also feel them to be slightly disenbodied and on the left hand pieces of fingers are sort of "missing" or "ghostly". i also try spinning, and this clarifies things a bit, and I end up going to another dream, a bit less lucid this time, until i finally completely wake up.
Sigh. That was fun.
A bientot,
Philippe
Congratulations Philippe!!!
Thomas
Welcome Philippe and congratulations on your first lucid dream. Pretty excellent isn't it? You'll never be same again I suspect. Please continue to use this forum to enhance your skills and share your experiences with the rest of us. I've found the messages on here a useful tool to help induce my own lucid dreams. Daily reading and participation keep the mind focused, with desire.
Dream on,
Rich M.
Hi Keelin and other dreamers..I think I had my first lucid out of body dream this morning. At first when I went to bed I kept repeating [when I dream I will wake up and know it] over and over and it worked so good for me last night.. I woke up to 5 or 6 dreams of witch 3 were false awakinings I think of the dreams I seemed to only remember the last parts mostly.. But last night was the most active night Ive ever had in the last 5 months Ive been working on lucidity.. Then It was about 4:30 in morning I thought I was awake but I had a big suprise coming.. As I lay there I was sudenly in a large 200 year old mansion with lots of people walking and talking every where then I was alone in a very old looking guest room [or dream bed room] I could still hear the people talking and my door was ajar I was in bed so I got up and shut the door..I looked around the room and the walls were cracked and pealing the place looked ancient!I finaly went back to bed in my dream bed..Then I was out side near a bush..I noticed the bush had a tunnel going into it.I then looked in and saw a flouresent green fox or pig or dog or something with 4 legs and it was green! It looked back at me with a smile laughed and went deeper into the bush. I tryed to follow him in but the tunnel got too narrow so I backed out.. As I backed out I saw a person aproaching bringing food for the creature.. Them I heard a small faraway voice say I must be dreaming!! Then the scene changed to city buildings and street corners and in my field of vision was a small dot in the middle of the city scene. I dont know why but I concentrated on that dot and instantly felt a slight pressure in middle of my for head and my whole body started to feel strange like numb and I instantly felt light as air as I rose up in the air very quickly still seeing the buildings I remember exclaiming IM FREE!! IM FREE!! It felt great! Then the images started to fragment like a jig saw puzzel and I woke up.. That little green creature caused me to be criticly aware! Now I feel more confident.because of this..
Hi Everyone!
June 1st, 2004 - I had my first awakening! In my home, above my bed on the ceiling, hangs a self-hypnosis disc (used to stare at and trance out). Below the disc I attached the word "DEEPER".
In my dream, I saw a balloon flying around that was shaped exactly like the figure of the disc with the word DEEPER under it. I thought, "How strange is this? Could I be dreaming? Yes! I am dreaming!! WOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!".
Then I flew around a little bit, intentionally. The flight wasn't as expansive or intense as the other flights I've had (unintentionally), but the difference is TREMENDOUS!
This moment was many years in the making, through a series of starts and stops in my practice. Lately though, I have been far more diligent than in the past and it appears to be having a definite, positive effect. I am completely excited about the present, as well as the future.
Big THANK YOU to Keelin and the Lucidity Institute for being there to support us in this work. I am looking forward to sharing more with the group as well as learning from our collective experiences.
Cheers, Mike
Hi Mike,
Welcome to the Forum -- and Congratulations on your first lucid dream! Your report illustrates an excellent strategy in posing the question "How strange is this?" rather than simply noting the anomaly as unusual and moving on to invent a dream-logical explanation. May your curious approach reward you well in the future.
How exciting is it? ;) Keelin
Thanks Keelin
How exciting is it?
It is * SUPER EXCITING * !
Awakening for the first time is a major breakthrough for my self-work, and a big step towards the fourth dimension.
Having total access to my mind will allow me to receive quality answers to questions like:
- Who am I, really (beyond the skin, bones, names, etc)?
- Who is aware?
- What is the nature of the Universe?
- Can we consult Einstein, Queen Elizabeth I, Mozart, Isis and King Solomon on this?
.. as well as other infinitely interesting queries.
Also, I can intentionally swim to the depths of Atlantis, fly alongside Superman, be the Sun as well as the Moon (at the same time), and much much more.
Literally, I've touched the keys to the kingdom. And that is REALLY exciting!
Now to work on hanging on to them better
Thanks! Mike
Well, at last! A lucid dream after almost an entire year dry! And especially interesting being a WILD which I went into fully conscious from the waking state. I can't recall ever doing that before. Usually there's a brief period of unconsciousness before the dream begins. This time I awoke feeling still very sleepy, kept still and my eyes closed, and drifted back into sleep while concentrating on staying aware and watching for a dream scene. I found myself on a street in a city and knew I had entered a dream. I began flying. I had a number of sensual adventures, did a little spinning, and then woke up fully.

Paul:
That's great news! I hope you have many WILD nights to come!

Excellent! Keep going man... And keep post'en.

Hi, Dom. It's good to be back in the game. Been through unemployment, destitution, heart attack, open heart surgery, but still able to engage in dream sex. What more could one ask for?

Had my first lucid dream last night, and it was even more amazing that I thought it would be. I don't think I'll ever forget the precise moment when I became lucid; for some reason, I thought this would be a more graduated process, evolving slowly throughout the dream. It was NOT like that - the recognition happened instantly. I was in a shopping mall in my hometown, and I remember recognizing that as being weird (it is one of my most recurring dreamsigns). Somehow, I found myself outside, trying to get back in, but every door led back outside - I couldn't get back in. I asked a security guard which door led back inside, and he said looked at me disgustedly and said something bizarre like "use that sliding door over there", and when I looked the door slid out of existence....THAT'S when it hit me like a bolt of lightning, and I bacame aware. I almost panicked, not from fear, but sheer exilaration. I needed to prove to myself that I was lucid, so the first thing I thought to myself was "what can I do that I would NEVER do in real life to prove beyond a doubt that this is a dream?" So I turned to the security guard and just POPPED him a shot right in his nose. That eliminated all doubt from my mind. I was able to move around lucidly for a short while longer before waking up...after only a few weeks of concerted effort (about three weeks; I'm still in Unit 1 of the course) I got a taste of what I'm working toward. This just makes me want to put even more effort forth to be able to do this more frequently.
I have to admit I had my doubts that I'd ever be able to accomplish lucidity in my dreams, but now, although I realize I've only taken a small step, my doubts have diminshed significantly and I'm VERY confident that I can take this thing as far as my intention will lead me. I'm sure you all know where I'm coming from and where I'm at!
Shaun:
Congratulation, and thanks for sharing your first dip in the pool with us! And what an excellent reality check! Just be sure you don't practice it during the day!
Be sure to let us know how you progress!
Best of Dreams,
Peter
Shaun, nice going!

In the last week, i have learned that the type of dreaming i've had since 2nd grade is called a lucid dream. I'm now 17 and in 11th grade. What I now know was my first lucid dream was also the most profound one I've had... I had the ability to not only know that i was sleeping, interact with dream characters and act on impulse, and reason with myself, but I was capable and successful woke myself intentionally. Heres my dream: That night, before dreaming, i had done a lot of homework until 12:00 AM, i had to wake up early in the morning. I went to sleep, and dreampt about getting onto the school bus and heading on my way to school...The usual morning. On the school bus, I was aware that i was dreaming: (which i now know is the first step to LD) I had also rememberd that i had just spent the entire night doing school work, and I didnt want to dream about school. But at the same time, I wasn't positive that i was dreaming, because i had never had that feeling before. So i started thinking of how i could see if i was dreaming or not. We arrived at school in the dream, and the bell was going to ring in a few mintues. I saw one of the administrators standing in the bus loop just like they usually do, and i thought of walking up to him and asking him "am i dreaming" but then i thought to myself: what if i'm NOT dreaming, he's gonna think im a weirdo. At this time i was almost positive that i was sleeping, and i didn't want to waste my night dreaming about school, i was going to live it in the morning. So i thought, whats the last physical change that occurs when you fall asleep: your eyes clothes. So i thought to myself, what if i tried blinking my eyes intensely and rapidly, maybe that will make me blink in reality. So i tried it. In the dream, i was blinking and at first it wasnt working, so i thought i might have been actually in reality, but i still tried it and kept doing it, and finally i found myself blinking in reality, laying in bed. I rolled over and thought about something else so i could go to sleep and hopefully have a different dream.
This has been the only time i've ever been dreaming and wanted to change my dream, so it was the only time i've ever done that.
I have about 5-6 lucid dreams/week that i rememeber. every dream i have, i have the choice of being lucid, and im aware of the choice, but some nights I dont feel like being "concious," sometimes its just easier to just let the dream go as it goes...Unless its a nightmare, if it's a nightmare i of course realize theres no harm, but i still treat the threat as a real thing: (when i was younger and i had not had too many lucid dreams) i had a reoccuring dream that i was being chased around my house by a witch on a broom that was throwing fire balls at me. It wasnt until about the 7th dream that i realized i had dreampt it 6 times before, and therefore helping me know it wasnt real. When i realized that, i stopped running, i faced the witch, and started chasing her! (so in essence, the problem didn't disipate, i conciously chased her away)
i havent tried any techniques of dream journals or mantra's or dream themes, or reality checks. nothing. I will in the future, but i'm able to have lucid dreams naturally, so i go by the idea: "if its not broken, dont fix it" until i decide i'd like to take my high level LD to the next level
Jae,
You are a lucky person to lucid dream so naturally. I'm sure you'll find lots of interesting things to do in your lucid dreams on this forum. I suggest you think about the ways that the constraints of waking life influence what you do in your dreams, then when you are dreaming, test yourself to see what more you can do. I imagine you already do this by flying. Have you tried switching bodies with another dream character or animal? That can be really cool. Controlling the dream world is also challenging and can be fun. I do this by verbally commanding things to change, like they control light levels on Star Trek. To make something appear I still have to go around a corner to see it--I can't just make things pop into my sight. Even then, what appears is never exactly what I was expecting.
Since you learned to lucid dream on your own, I bet you have done things that no one here has thought of. I look forward to hearing about some of your adventures.
Hello everyone,
This is my first day on the forum and I've been reading the threads all day..this is a great addition to my fascination with Lucid Dreaming, I look forward to be a part of it. So I figured I might as well share my first LD, which was about two weeks ago and I'm still filled with awe! I've been trying for about three months and alas I had four the first night and one two days later, two of them first were questionable and in fact the I woke up and thought, "that's it?" and was rather disappointed since the imagery was very vague and hard to recall...I think I was more in a hypnotic imagery state..The second was similar. Both had had fire involved in the dream.
Now on to the good stuff- When I woke up from the second semi lucid dream I told myself on the next dream I would fly (as this has always been a part of my most vivid dreams) and also look for fire. Sure enough-Boom I'm fully lucid for a very short moment where I'm flying over some trees, none like I've ever seen before, I noticed they were clones of each other and I marveled at the detail of the branches, then I lost lucidity. The last and most profoundly lucid dream lasted for at least a minute or two;
I was floating/flying much like a balloon along the ceiling of a hallway in some office building, the end of the hall was on fire. This is what triggered the lucidity (goes to show the power of affirmation) and how!!! As I drifted towards the fire, I felt compelled to turn around, but since I knew I was dreaming I just kept going. There was a sign hanging down from the ceiling and just as I thought I would hit it, I just went right through it. As I reached the fire, I could see down where the hall continued and it was as if it was an area I was not supposed to get to, like an unfinished set, beyond the fire, the hall was shaded in orange colors and vanished into nothing..so, I took a right and came to a stair well where I met up with two people, one of them said "let's get out of here, we have to find Brent (or Brett)" I just said "No, I'm going to go upstairs and see how far the fire goes" (reflecting on my previous dreams where fire was everywhere) So I left them and started up the stair well when all of a sudden I heard someone/something coming down, this for some reason sort of freaked me out so I turned around and went back down the stairs and ended up outside floating in a parking lot..I sort of crash landed (reminded me of the Greatest American Hero, if anyone remembers that show) and noticed a little boy coming over to me, he said something to me which I don't recall because I immediately noticed behind him was a group of people doing yoga or something..amazingly the "teacher" was my first girlfriend of six years (from high school, haven't seen or really thought about her in years)..amazed I thought, I gotta see this, so I walked right up to her to have a close look, she was extremely lean and fit, more than she ever was in real life..but it was absolutely her. The more I stared at her the features of her face sort of changed and she looked less and less like her, then my darn alarm went off and I woke up! I wonder how much longer it could have lasted....
Anyway, I know it's much more interesting in my mind than it is in words..but like Shaun I was starting to wonder if it was out of my reach, but low and behold here I am, a bona fied oneironaught! And there's no turning back.....

I'll never forget my first lucid dream. It was four years ago (I was in 8th grade). I had first learned of lucid dreaming on the internet when I searched in general about dreaming b/c I needed to do something about the constant nightmares I'd have, waking up in a fright & perspiration; almost every night. But anyways, my first lucid dream was about a week and a half after I started to practice techniques to become lucid, and my first one went like this: I was with a bunch of my friends and we were all just hanging out. And that's when I asked myself, "Am I dreaming?" I was so psyched b/c I realized that I was and instantly everyone vanished and I was in this huge void with nothing around but darkness. There was black all around and it seemed to move and ripple like water on walls. I stood there staring at it and then I raised up my hand to one of the rippling walls and changed it from black to a deep purple, then a dark blue, and finally a blood red color. I was so excited and then I thought of flying. As soon as I thought of it I started to lift up from whatever it was that I was standing on and then after a few feet up I fell back down. Then I stood back up, and then woke up.
I'm a senior now and I regularly keep a dream journal & ask myself all the time whether or not I'm dreaming b/c that's the way I've always done it. However, often times when I don't become lucid I still have horrible nightmares. I don't know if I'll ever be able to shake them from my mind.
~Angela~
With that attitude, you won't, Angela. Henry Ford said, "Believe you can, believe you can't; either way, you're right." So be optimistic! Perhaps you could try reading or rereading Chapter 10 from Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming, by LaBerge, which can be found here.

Dear Angela,
Thank you for sharing your first lucid dream with us here, and also for adding your comment about nightmares. In doing so, you've given your fellow oneironauts an opportunity to post a helpful reminder for you (as well as for more silent sufferers).
And to David: Thank you for the reminder!
And to all: Here's quick link to the online article on nightmares by Stephen LaBerge: http://lucidity.com/EWLD10.html
Blissful dreams to all! Keelin
My Name is Luis and I learned to remain calm once the realization is made that I am in a dream.Through many days weeks months and years of recording my dreams in journals I stumbled apon ways to purposely create new envirnments and minipulating certain circumstances to my favor in my Lucid dreams. Now you would'nt expect me to gloat witout telling what I did and how I did it would ya? this is for mankind and the evelution in using the rest of that 90% of our brain.I stumbled apon changing my environment in my lucid dreams because I would and still from time to time be so fimiliar with feeling of being submerged in what I call the "Liquid Dream Juice " its how I explain the feeling of being in a dream state vs where written word stays consistant, any who,I suddenly found myself in full realization that I was in sleep but I was experiencing complete dakness so I grope waving my hands around with the intent to enter into somewhere with bright sunlight.{questions yes?} as Im groping according to my expectations suddenly I feel my inner conjurings working an energy to manifesting what felt like a sliding door handle.{questions yes?}light poured in as I slid the sliding door open.On the other side was a large baybe blue bird bath wrapped with green vines It was sunny and so beautiful. As I stood in awe of the grander of realizing that I stumbled apon a technique for myself I got up to test the door into the next room theory once again it worked.{Questions yes?}It worked me into frustration with the thousand and one questions it posed to me on how I made the bird bath in the last room? what are my formulas to my intentions?what are they what are their names but even worse I wanted to know how I could become fimiliar with how Im conjuring in order to specify what I want to conjure?{questions yes?}anywho Try walking into a dark spot in your dreams and grope into darkness with anticapation for something your likely to find it.now as far as manipulating circumstances in your dreams do as I do and switch focous between characters in your dreams while shooting pass doubt.and getting other characters to do your bidding as you talk to another character about a subject literally completely off the wall from what you asked the last character to carry out for you.For instance I had a lucid dream where I became lucid in a sunlit bedroom and walked into a basement with small paint buckets dripping marvelous colors stacked againsted the wall I encountered two dream characters out of the blue I asked one character to paint me a bugs bunny hole OFF the wall with one of the MAGIC paint cans for me to climb in when hes finished{Questions yes?}The dream character seemed as amazed and happy to carry that deed out for me as I was to experince it.Just before I handed over the MAGIC paint I noticed another dream character and did'nt want to be rude so I handed the willing dream character the MAGIC paint looked over to the other dream character to show aknowledgement then turned to thank my tasked character for going off and doing asa I asked with genuine appreciation.Turning to chat with the second dream character I start explaning the potency and value of the MAGICAL paint and its mystical qualities it possess and shes there noding and looking well educated and just before I could think of something else to say the other dream character with The MAGIC paint tells me its done I said My bugs bunny rabbit hole? with a smile like Stanley from Laurel & Hardy he says check for yourself we walk down a couple of steps guess what? An orange glowing cartoon claymation like rabbit hole with cartoon music eminating from it. just the right size for me to climb through as Im climbing through this cartoon bugs bunny hole it dawned apon me the this cartoon rabbit hole has a nasty smell like saliva then It dawned apon me that this stuff must be made up of all the crumbs bugs bunny is all ways dropping from his mouth when hes eats carrots illll - yuk it was nausiating yet still amazing.Watch it in dream land cause if you dont design the pleasantries of your lucid dream experience your unchecked conjurings will manifest them for you.{Questions Yes?} I think we could disect this one till we made a formula for minipulating circumstances how we anticipate and manifest enviornments to our liking.sweet dreams Luis.
Hi, all
I remember the first time I ever heard of lucid dreaming. I had read a magizine article about them and I was very interested in having one. A few days later I had my first lucid dream.
I am standing in a lightbulb store. I have two bulbs in my hands and I am waiting in line to pay for them. I am growing anxious however, because I don't any money and I am wondering how I am going to pay for the bulbs when I get to the front of the line. Then the man right behind me in line says to me "don't worry, you don't money; this is just a dream". I emmediatley realized that he is right! This is just a dream, I don't need money or for that matter, I don't even need light bulbs. In excitement, I flew up and out of the store. I decided to fly to an ex-girlfriends house to visit her. We had broken up several years earlier, but we were still good friends. Now she lived in another city 200 miles away. No problem though, I could just fly over there. It only took a second to get to her house which looked like a beach house built on stilts. The entire house was comprised of a single large room with windows all the way around it. In fact, this room was a dance studio and my ex was there dancing in the middle of the room. I watched her dance for a while and eventually lost lucidity.
Hello, My name is Adam and I am new to the forum. I have been working with my dreams on and off for a little less than a year now. Being a college student, I find it hard to have a disciplined sleep cycle and to find a lot of free time to work on dreams, but nevertheless I continue to work on them when I can. I have achieved mild states of lucidity a few times, in which last for only a short period of time. Anyways, here is one of the few lucid dreams I've had.....
5.3.05 12:30-2:30PM This was a nap....
I was in my room at home, it must have been summer and it was daylight outside. I was either laying down in my bed or doing something relaxing, when I saw a very small prop plane fly by very low outside around my house. I looked out one window to follow it, then quickly moved over to the other window to follow it as it swarmed around my house. At first, not sure who it was, I tried to hide myself because I didn't want them to see me. I was then able to see that it was Mr. C, my neighbor, enjoy another one of his luxury items. He looked content and his hair blew in the wind as he did unrealistic flips and spins in such a small area (with lots of tall trees). The plane was white and had one or two red stripes, one being thicker than the other. It was after this recognition, as I was leaning on my window sill looking at the plane that I realized I was dreaming. I began to rub my hands together to strengthen the level of lucidity. I then decided, after realizing I was in control, to reach out to grab the plane (my lucidness must have reduced the size of the plane to make me able to hold it). Unfortunately, not much happened after I took hold of the plane and the dream ended.
I look forward to discussing LD with everoyne on the forum....
Adam
Adam:
Welcome to the Forum!
Thanks for sharing your LD experience with us; I hope we'll get to hear more!
And let's hope dreamy Mr. C keeps supplying you with excellent flights of fancy!
Best of Dreams,
Peter
Adam, nice dream! Welcome again to the forum. By any chance, had you recently or ever seen the old original version of King Kong, where the ape grabs a little plane circling around the Empire State Building? Sound mighty familiar.
Thanks for posting.
Paul
Hi Paul,
I know which reference you are refering to; however even though I've seen it in the past I have not seen it in a long time. Often I can pick out things in my dreams (both LD and NLD) that I can tell have been influenced by something in my waking state of that day, which can be fairly interested at times, to see how the unconscious picks up things. However I can't figure out where this plane came from....
Adam
Hi all, These forums are a great resource, and I'm really excited to get back into lucid dreaming!! I read through the posts in my email to get inspired..and I want to contribute to the community
soo..
I started getting interested in dreaming and LC about 10 years back after reading some Castaneda, but didn't have much results and my interest just faded out. But recently my older bro re-inspired me to start practicing some recognition techniques, and in about 2 weeks after this I had my first lucid dream after about a 10 year gap.
This is how it went down: In my dream my wife asked me to go buy something at the store, so I drove our car to a familiar place where I parked, but had no change for the parking meter. I entered a private apartment (no one was home) and was rummaging through their personal stuff looking for change. All of a sudden, I noticed a large mirror on the wall and when I looked into it, I was shocked, shaken to the core to see that my reflection was not looking back at me, but was continuing to rummage through drawers, and a desk. The emotion of shock and a bit of terror was the thing that induced me to lucidity. A feeling of euphoria washed over me and as I became lucid. As I remained in the room it became dark, forbidding even with only a slit of light shining through a high window crack. I though to myself that if this were a normal circumstance that this would be a very scary place to be - but I had my wits about me I guess and somehow exited the room.
On the street I thought I'd like to fly (but in my dream experience, have never been able to) and so it was the same here. I was frustrated. I felt like I had a ton of energy and nothing to do with it, since I couldn't fly. So I began climbing buildings like I was spider man or something. I also ran at insane speeds and this felt good, like I was expending pent-up energy.
I felt the dream fading so I began to spin my dream body. A new dream crystallized and I was in a sunny desert. I began running down a path at like 100mph.....
Andrew,
Congratulations on your Lucid Dream! Ive also found that looking into "dream mirrors" will cause lucidity especially when you look different in them!
I like the spider man feats! It will probably help you fly later too in dreams. I used to do split leaps and fly in mine. The Matrix movie had some great martial art tricks in it that are fun to try in lucid dreamland.
Eve
During my first Lucid Dream, I found myself on a sheet of ice, a glacier perhaps, and upon realizing things weren't quite as they should be, I immediately began to think about how I could test my environment. So as I thought for just a moment, I decided to do something that I know I would never do in real life. The first thing that came to mind that fit this constraint was to walk up to the next person I saw, and punch them square in the face. At the time I thought this would be the perfect proof to myself that I was in the dream state, because in mundane existence, I would never have thought or acted out such a thing. Upon seeing someone in the distance beyond the ice hill before me, I walked up to it, not knowing if it was male female angel or demon, and punched it in the face. Guess what happened next. Boom, back in my body. What a wild experience.
I only later learned that a hostile and aggressive mental state only hinders success in the astral planes. But nevertheless, It changed the way I looked at the world forever.
Hey everyone, I'm brand new to this forum and very new to exploring dream conciousness. I have yet to post anything on this forum so I thought perhaps would be a good place to start.
I've always had very good natural dream recall, infact before I even started keeping a journal (which to tell the truth I am not all that faithful to) I was remembering up to 2 dreams a night consistantly. Now, since I've become aware of lucid dreaming and have been trying to increase dream recall as well as induce lucid dreams, I can remember upwards of 5+ dreams a night. Not all of them 100% vividly, but parts of 2 or 3, and the others I remember quite well.
I've been studying for about 5 or 6 weeks now, and I've managed to induce about 7 lucid dreams. However at the exact moment of becoming lucid, I awoke probably 3 times. As well, I don't think my levels of lucidity are as high as could be after doing some research online.
Anyways, as the thread suggests, I will describe my first lucid dream.
I journied out of my house in hopes of finding a blockbuster, I had no intention of renting a movie, but I wanted to go there anyways. I was walking with a girl, who I couldnt really make out, but I understand that she was my girlfriend. On the way to finding blockbuster, I encountered a great part of my real life ex-girlfriends family, Including her sister, cousin and, father who for some reason was lying on the grass. I asked them if they were on thier way to blockbuster, and they answered yes. The weird part about their answer was that it seemed very sketchy, as if they were hiding a secret or almost dismissing me. Anyways, we carried on our journey to finding Blockbuster, and when we arrived around the area at which the Blockbuster should be, we could not see it anywhere. I noticed the top of a building that was blue and yellow and looked a lot like a blockbuster, so we went in. And it turned out to be a restaurant of some sort. As I descended the wooden stairs there was a waitress waiting to seat people, my companion waited for me at the top of the stairs while I looked around to see if perhaps the movies were in a diferent part of the restuarant. While I looked around I found a room where the employees were having thier own meal, and looking at me rather weirdly, so I checked the next room, and it had a very "spacey" atmosphere feeling to it. And when I say spacey I mean almost astrological, stars, space, alien feeling. Although there was really nothing in the room to justify that feeling. I don't remember the exact details of the room. The next room was a very normal seating area for guests to the restuarant.
I figured there was no use in looking around anymore, as there were no more rooms so I headed back out to tell my companion/gf that there were no movies here. As I walked out three attractive girls followed me, and a fourth girl was on the stairs as I walked up. The girl on the stairs was looking at me in a seductive way and she brushed me with her elbow as I was ascending the stairs beside her. My companion was very jealous and let me know it. I dont remember how I was informed of her jealousy, but I am certain I was. As we left the restuarant that I thought may have been blockbuster, it was night time, and we had to go down another flight of stairs to get back to the side walk to finish our trek to blockbuster. I decided it would be more fun if I slide down the stairs on my back using my jacket as a sled. The three attractive girls laughed at this, while my companion did not.
I dont remember how the transition between that stage of the dream and the next went... but I remember suddenly feeling more concious, it was day time and I was standing before the area where the blockbuster should be, it was clearly demolished and thier was trucks that said "Blockbuster" on them in front of the demolished area to reassure me that, that was indeed where the blockbuster was. At this point in the dream I knew that the blockbuster was extremely close to my home, so why had I not gone directly to the place where it had been before? Why would I not know that it had been demolished considering I walked past the place where it was in order to get to the restaurant I had just visited? Then I heard the sound of a furnace.
I looked at my companion, who was now a man who looked identical to a man I know who is of little importance in my life, he was not this person... but he was in this persons body. All of the sudden we were standing before a pan view of a field with a few bushes, maybe some trees, and a few miles off in the distance, some houses. We were standing on a street with a cherry red car that resembled a buick but I cant be for certain. It was at this point I knew I was dreaming. I had figured out that the blockbuster event could not have happened, and I realized that if I could hear a furnace, I must be in my room. And then I remembered that furnace sounds were a dream recogition sign, and it all hit me so fast... like a life changing epiphany. I realized I was asleep in my bed, and that I was having a dream. All I could do was smile, and laugh...and my companion said "So we are in a dream eh?" and I replied "Yes"
We stood infront of the field for awhile laughing about the fact that I was having a lucid dream, and then I remembered that I could control things in a lucid dream... So I tried my hardest to change things, as my companion assured me it could be done. It is rather difficult to explain how I changed things in my enviroment, but I will try my hardest. As I tried to change things, I would be speaking openly to my companion, I would try to change certain things, for example, I wanted to see eggs fall from the sky, but instead the bushes turned to cabbages, and when I tried to turn the cabbages back to bushes, the sky rained eggs. All the time I was laughing, but I was also very frustrated at the fact that I wasnt able to fully control my enviroment. My companion said that he could not see the cabbages or the hailing eggs.
I stopped trying to convince my companion that there was indeed eggs falling from the sky, and it was about that point when two huskies appeared in the field. I told my companion that there was now 'wolves' in the field, even though I knew they were huskies and that he would not be able to see them anyways. But to my surprise, he said he could see them. Which made me a little nervous, but I was still laughing because I knew I was in a dream. I suggest that we climb up on top of the cherry red buick just to feel safer, even though I knew the dogs could easily get up there.
Sure enough, the dogs decided to come on over, and climb up the hood of the car. I was laughing the whole time, I pushed one away by the face as it came up the hood. My other hand had been dangling off the car and the other dog grabbed it in it's teeth. Now I was howling with laughter because it didnt hurt at all. My companion was laughing as well, and asked me if it hurt, which I replied no.. so he stuck his hand in the other dogs mouth, and we laughed at this for awhile while the dogs tried in vain to devour us.
The car seemed to disapear and we were sitting crossed legged on the road, one of the dogs had disapeared, the one that was eating my companion. Or trying to anyways... the other dog was still trying to eat me, now it was working on my arm. At this point I was still laughing, but starting to get a little annoyed. So I decided that I would turn the dog into a puppy. And sure enough, slowly, it started to turn into a little puppy.. I hadnt specified what kind of puppy in my thoughts, which is why I was suprised when a giant husky turned into a little rottweiler pup. I laughed a little more, as did my companion and then I decided I would try to make more things happen.
Im not sure why, but I decided that I wanted a tractor to appear in the field. I tried so hard to make a tractor appear that I actually felt as though I was straining myself, I didnt think this was possible seeing as how I was in a dream. I think I may have been trying to hard because the rest of the panoramic view of the field I had seemed to fade away, in the recesses of my mind I could see the outline of a tractor, but when I tried to get back to the field scene, the tractor outline would disappear. I juggled between these until eventually I was getting very, very breif images of the tractor in different scenes. So brief that I didnt get the chance to distinguish where the tractor was, only that it was infact a tractor.
I was feeling very frustrated and strained, and I think that may have been what woke me up.
Sorry for all the detail, and the sloppy structure and spelling, but I wrote it upon awakening, and was still tired
And I'll be quite glad to know if anyone actually read this entire post.

Jesse,
Welcome to the forum! That's a good long first LD! My first one lasted a whopping 30 seconds or so. Isn't it funny how your mind can play tricks on you like that, with the raining eggs/bush changing switch. I've definitely dealt with that straining feeling before when trying to get my way in a lucid dream. The way I've avoided it is to use verbal commands, like "There IS a tractor there!" or "I command there to be a tractor!" something like that. Something about yelling it out loud just seems to convince my mind to cooperate a little better.

Hello to all around the world. It is a privilege to share with everyone here, and I thank Lucidity Institute for the Forum. I have enjoyed reading all of the posts and replies here.
In keeping with the topic, I'll enter part of a lucid dream. I had my first lucid dream in early childhood. It was very confusing to me, and I had difficulty walking with "a foot in both worlds" for several weeks afterward.
Have had numerous LDs in one night; able to recall vivid details. Have had weeks on end with lucid dreams nightly, and other times maybe 2 weeks or so without any.
Below is a small part of a long lucid dream from 20 years ago:
January 1, 1986: I am in a marshland, very full of nature, and profoundly serene. I am with a guide of some sort. We look at several reptiles and other aquatic life that the guide tells me is endangered. We fall asleep under a tree.
It is when I awake from this sleep that I realize I have slept "twice" or "double" -- and that I am in another dimension, a parallel universe and am able to take in its reality, be at one with it, the same as in my waking world.
The guide takes me to a place where the land is turning a blue color from corrosion or oxidation of some kind -- like the blue of battery acid on the terminals of a car battery. It is dried up in deposits. There is a snail, barely alive and crawling, all blue. There are two eels struggling, no water for them, and they are all blue. There are several fish and I feel the word "Piscean" is important to their death and struggle. I know that whether in this altered dimension, or when I awake into the next dimension (the conscious world,) I cannot help the fish that are shown to me.
The guide then warns me not to touch them. I know to ask the guide to show me a healthy marsh, and he takes me to a place with a type of evergreen that grows near brackish water. I know to ask him if these trees are endangered like the fish; to ask if I can help save these trees. He tells me that there is a freeze coming in one year that will destroy these trees in a nearby fishing village (a small fishing cove near where I lived on the Gulf of Mexico.)
He begins to leave the dream, and I know I have to ask him to come back and give me some more information. I do this, and he tells me exactly how to cut these tall 40-foot trees after the freeze so that they will sprout and grow again.
One year later, almost to the day, there was a freeze that destroyed the majority of these trees along the bayous of the lower Gulf of Mexico area where I lived. Most people cut their trees completely to the ground. I followed the instructions given me in this dream and the trees began their regrowth that spring.
Wow this is miraculous! Truly a great example of why it is worthwhile to develop this ability.
