What kind of trends do you tend to see in your dream-weather? Is it generally realistic/vivid?
In my lucids I notice it's almost always nighttime, and there is often either rain or snow.
Many shades of gray. . . lots of evening twilight. But I also run the gamut of brilliant warm sunshine to storms to crystal clear star-filled night skies.
Good question! It will be interesting to hear from others.
In my only outdoor lucid so far, ir was snowing... Which I find amazing really, in the UK it rarely snows and I've only experienced "proper" snow 3 times in my life... It must have made an impression!
Interesting question - to date I've only had one experience of rain (which was very vivid and notable). Light wise it varies, too often its dark but I have had bright sunny experiences too.
I've never experienced real wind (other than the feeling of hairs on my arms tickled when flying) or experienced snow either. I've never had a distinct feeling of hot or cold either.
I'm going to try and remember to demand some snow next time!
I often don't notice time of day, unless it's hard to see, and then I assume it's night. And then I tend to change it. Otherwise, It's only rained once in a lucid (because I made it), and about once since I started remembering dreams, in a normal dream. I'd really like to go play in snow though =D
In my lucids its often night, and when it's day, often the weather is very bad! Never rain, but alot of times dark doomy sky's!
It has never rained in any of my dreams, as far as I can remember.
Snow, almost never.
I guess it's ordinary weather, sunshine with clouds I guess.
It is much more night in my lucids than in my normal dreams, but still not common (10% or so).
If I'm outside, I can usually tell what season it is; leaves on trees, or snow on the ground, or whatever, but the temperature is rarely extreme--at most slightly chilly or warm.
I feel wind every so often, especially while flying. I hate wind IRL, but I love it in dreams/
I can't remember ever having rain actually falling, but it has felt damp at times. That's a good goal, and actually I think making it rain is one of the challenges this month.
It can be either day or night, and any type of sky, but often there is something beautiful or amazing; an incredibly bright day, or a night sky filled with stars and planets and galaxies, etc.
In regular dreams, it's as varied as RL. But many of my lucids start a certain way, and I've come to associate them with the weather that nearly always is. I float out the window, and it's night, pleasantly cool, with an amazing energetic, refreshing quality. It's foggy, everywhere is a fine mist, and there's dew on the grass. Sporadic pleasantly warm breeze, but mostly still and quiet. This weather may seem common, but there's something very distinctive about it that seems inextricable from lucidity by now.
So weather has become a reliable dreamsign for you, mu?
that's an interesting question - you know, I don't think I really pay much attention to the weather in my dreams ...? Nothing stands out, at least. I think most of my dreams take place indoors and when they are outside, I am more focused on dream characters than I am on the weather or environment in general. I think I'd like to change that! >.<

I had two snow dreams this week~
QuoteOpposite here, with DCs vs environment. But strange indoors is at least as cool as strange outdoors, chuckle. Maybe it's because I am indoors more than I am outdoors? I guess strange indoors can be just as cool, but I think I'd rather explore the strange outdoors- I guess I am craving something different!
One of my dreams IRL is to travel the world, but I have already accepted that it is not likely to happen. SOOOO ... I was hoping to travel the world in my dreams.
Accept no such thing!
Even if you can't see a way for it to happen right now, set your expectations. If you have set your expectations for it NOT to happen, it probably won't.

I've noticed that whenever a scene in my dream gets dark something bad happens. naturally when its light, its rare for something scary to occur.
It's usually a sunny day in my dreams, and sometimes it's nighttime. It's rarely raining or snowing, but it happens now and then. Strangely enough, my nighttime dreams are usually good, and the weather in bad dreams/nightmares can be bright and sunny.
And manipulating weather in lucid dreams can be quite entertaining!
Mostly light grey to very dark grey out. When I get sun it's usually shining bright and leaves a healing or reassuring feeling in me upon waking. As for snow, it's often a cue to become lucid and I suspect that's due to when in snow during real-time I tend to still myself/mind which makes me very aware.
I went out into the rain last night, and it was cold and wet and muddy, and I immediately thought of this thread. Very realistic.
Later, I went out and it was snowy and cold again.
Ah, that reminds me, Moonbeam... Going to add another part to the original post... "... and how realistic is it?" I find that weather is one of the most vivid things in my dreams.
I went back and read your first post again; funny how I had both rain and snow last night. It's been a while since I read this but I think it was because of this thread. The rain was especially realistic. I don't think I've ever been as cold in a dream as it can really get outside IRL.
Weather isn't usually vivid in my dreams. Usually it's sunny or cloudy. I don't see my body a lot when I dream, but when I have, I usually have bare arms. I don't feel hot or cold in my dreams. Or pain. If something is supposed to hurt, it tingles.
I don't generally feel anything in dreams, at all. That's why checking for how my body feels is such a reliable reality check for me! By that I mean, when I become lucid, the first thing I do is I look at my hands (or... just my wrists, because my hands aren't there... this has happened...) and I ask myself, "Do I feel achy? Do I feel my clothes against my skin? No, I don't really feel anything at all... It's a dream then!"
Recently i had a lucid dream where i was standing on a grassy lot looking up at a white overcast sky. I was contemplating the differences between dreaming and real life, and when i truly realized that these differences do exist, a great sadness hit me. I became so overwhelmed that i made the whole sky turn dark grey with rain clouds..
(http://mortalmist.com/forum/dream-journals/maya%27s-lucid-journal/msg82293/#msg82293) P.S. don't worry, i don't actually feel sad about this dream, it was in fact quite liberating
Miss Maya I know what you mean; I've had a weird feeling like that rarely in dreams, sometimes like an overwhelming sense of loneliness; of being really, completely alone in a vast universe that nobody else can ever enter. One time in particular that I remember feeling like that was on a nice clear day. I was floating down a river.
The feeling only lasted a split second.
I've had all types of weather in my dreams, and it's usually very realistic. (Except for snow; my dreams always tend to exaggerate the snow in some way.) The temperature never seems to reflect the weather, though.
One thing I've noticed is that I tend to have more awareness when the weather is sunny, as opposed to when it's nighttime or when it's raining. The brighter it is, the clearer my thoughts seem to be.

I've had night/day/clear weather/overcast skies/storms/etc in my lucids and non-lucids, and the more turbulent weather tends to be much more vivid than calmer, more pleasant weather. Not always the case, but as a general trend, it is what I notice in my dreams. However, unusual weather patterns and colours tend to stick out like a sore thumb for me.
A lot of my dreams seem to take place towards the end of the day when the sky is beginning to go dark!
Strangely I dreamt a lengthy dream in which it was sunny out the entire time. A rarity indeed..
