This is the first Seasonal Inspirations thread. While Seasonal Endeavors offer a challenge to look forward to in the forthcoming season, Seasonal Inspirations asks you to look back at the season prior. What did you experience in your dreams this summer that you will never forget? Why does it mean so much to you? Do you think this experience can offer a unique perspective to your friends in the Mortal Mist community?

The purpose of this is not only to look in ourselves for inspiration, but to share it with others. If we collect dreams from everyone in Mortal Mist, I think the combined experiences will be startling. Like a featured dream of the month, but from any dreamer who wishes to share.

To participate, look through your dream journal for the most significant dreams you entered this summer. It should be a dream that is especially important to you, or one you think would mean something to others. Quote this entry from your journal and below the quote write what this dream means to you and how it makes you feel. I will allow up to three dreams per person in this thread, however, all three dreams must be in the same one response (you can edit it later to add more dreams if you so choose).

I am hoping by winter when we look to your dreams in the upcoming season, that what is left here is a testament to the significance of dreams to those who take advantage of them. It should be something future members of this site can look at to motivate them to lucid dream, and something our experienced dreamers can look to when they are in dry spells and need a reminder to motivate them to break it. It should be something anyone who goes to the forum during WBTB time can look forward to. So what did you dream that inspires?

The current Seasonal Endeavor has also begun.

I was right in front of the door to my old house, an apartment. The door was open, and many people were entering and leaving the apartment, as if there was a party going on inside. I found the owner of the place, who said to me she had hired a band to play in her house, in the Portugal vs Spain game, but the electricity failure stopped her from calling the said band. Her party was being ruined by lack of electricity. I found no acquaintances up there, and I decided to come down. The stairs were divided in two by a grate, and I choose the inner side (nearest to the stairwell). The stairs started to appear shorter and shorter, until I couldn't go any further. A janitor (female) told I had to go back and choose the other side. I did as she said, and went down through the other side. Going down, I saw K, a school colleague (not exactly a friend), and someone else with a familiar face, but which I didn't recognise. Near the ground floor, I found my old neighbour playing with three dogs. (one of them, R, exists IWL) She seemed very happy to see me. One of the dogs, R, ran to me and jumped unto my legs.

I'm posting not because it was an extraordinary dream, but because in it, I went back to my old house, where I lived my childhood. Nostalgia, or, in the untranslatable Portuguese term, saudade. Saudade is much deeper, and reflects what I feel and felt very well.

EDIT: AspiR thought I should post this here, for clarification. Please keep in mind that the meaning of Saudade is never very exact, and is the origin of several theories.Quote(14:08:23) AspirationRealized: What' saudade mean, or how is it different from nostalgia? (14:09:06) StarSeeker: Saudade is a mix of missing something with wishing the future to be well, as well as that past that once was (14:09:32) AspirationRealized: oh ok (14:09:32) StarSeeker: I think only Galician has the same word with the same meaning (14:09:53) AspirationRealized: so its like saying you hope the reasons you loved it before enhance it in the future? (14:10:50) StarSeeker: It's like remembering what was like before, and hoping the Future will bring you back to that state (more state of mind than of things) (14:11:29) AspirationRealized: oh ok well thats interesting. different meanings throughout languages (14:11:31) StarSeeker: And that going back to that previous state would make you whole
