Burned up will be hosting a workshop beginning Feb 01 and running through Feb 15th.

"Engaging with dreams"  - a short facilitative workshop where we can explore what happens when we engage with our own dreams and other people's.  And also to critically engage with some of the theories which exist about dreams.  Although intended for non-lucid dreaming, people may find it useful to see how the methods can be applied to lucid dreaming too.

The workshop involves sharing material from two dreams (one each week) and discovering how our own resources, other people's resources and published resources may be of interest to us.

I hope to show that dreamwork is not a dull, pretentious discipline limited to those with fixations about mothers, sex and tenuous symbolism.  It is about how we can use our own resources - essentially our selves and our own experiences - to the mysterious unconscious world of dreams.

The workshop takes place 1st to 15th February 2010, with sessions starting each Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  The more the merrier!

Bu.

Count me in. I have lots of vivid dreams but understand very few of them.  Maybe this will help.

I'd like to participate as best I can here. Thanks for the effort Bu! This sounds great. Perhaps this'd help some recognize themes in their non-lucid dreams that seem to be frequently at the tip of the tounge..but other sets of eyes might help push into view.

Do these dreams need to be from that time period, or can they be older dreams?

Excellent, that's 6 takers already!

For those worried about dubious theories - it's not going to be like that.  Use dream dictionaries, Freud, crystal balls etc as much or as little as you want.  Just dream and share!

I'm getting excited about this myself already!

Quote from: StarSeeker on January 12, 2010, 02:14:48 PMDo these dreams need to be from that time period, or can they be older dreams?

Well I'm going to suggest using a new dream mainly to help in the recording of details when it's fresh in your mind, as I'll be talking a bit about journaling.  And the dream may have connections to recent life events too.

Maybe at the end of the workshop we can play more with significant dreams from the past?

Let's be clear - this isn't about showing off how amazing our non-lucid dreams are. Long, epic dreams might make good stories but we can do the same work with a short, messy dream.  I for one (honestly) would be interested in a dream with "lots of conflict".

I hope that everyone will find at least some resource in themselves that brings them closer to their own dreams and those of others.  We all dream differently and we shouldn't be surprised if we all engage differently.  Maybe you (Dr T) will find you are sensitive to conflict in other people's dreams that they might not notice themselves?

The non-lucid part of what becomes a lucid dream would also be useful material.

I hope so too.  Sometimes we miss the obvious, yet others can spot it for us.

Well strictly speaking 3.5 hours for me at the moment but I can assure you nothing apart from the intro I've just posted will be there for 12, perhaps 18 hours or more as I have a day job to do.  But I'll attempt to quietly post the first part when I get to work at 8am my time.  (3am or earlier for those in the US).

Oh, and this isn't just about thinking
