While chatting with pj, I came up with an idea for a lucid dreaming project that we both agreed that I should post. Hopefully, it could motivate more lucid dreaming just like the Great Lucid Weekend.
The idea is pretty simple itself. We start a story, and then we take turns on lucid dreaming a chapter/part of it and add it to the story. The how, when and who will be decided if anyone is interested.
What do you think? Any additional suggestions if you like it?
I think this is a GREAT idea! Perhaps as a challenge? It would be like the Never Ending Story, but require dreaming!!!
I love this idea!! I don't know how much I can contribute but I think it's a fantastic project!
I doubt I'd be able to get lucid and dream up a chapter, but this is a great idea.
Wow, excellent idea. I would love to join in as much as possible, however would the book have a theme or something, or would it be random/always changing?
Also I think it would be better if a group of people did it rather than taking turns, because there would be quite a bit of pressure on that member if everyone is waiting for him to have an LD related to the book.
Well, it doesn't necessary have to be a full book, and of course a group would have to sign up for it. But the point was that we would need to take turns, as that is how the story evolves.
The plot will come later.
I would love to participate, but I fear my contributions to the book would relegate it to adult book stores

I don't know how productive I'd be, but I'm definately up for the challenge! This is an excellent idea, Lumi!
Lumi... I hate you! (Not really) It took me so long to get away from tasks and then you come with a cool one like this lol So if it comes into play, I would like to participate... though I would only be useful for fighting scenes <.<
What a cool idea! Let's do it!

Sounds great!

All stories need some romance!
That sounds cool! But what's the theme going to be? Or is it that the first chapter sets it so that the only thing the next LDer needs is to be in a similar/same scenario and just go from there?
If I help... wow, you'll get some very fantasy dreams.
This seems like a fun idea, but unfortunately, I don't think I could help anytime soon.
Been thinking about this a lot.
We only have a couple dreamers here who are super-consistent. The rest of us, (me included,) are kind of catch-as-catch-can in terms of both lucidity and remembering tasks.
The way to handle that might be to have our reliable dreamers each take a turn by themselves, and then let the rest of us all have at it at the same time and just see who comes up with the next chapter or portion. If a half-dozen of us are all working on it, chances are we won't be waiting too long for SOMEBODY to pull through. And if two people return with chapters at the same time, we can always branch the story off in a couple different directions and come back to one of them later on.

Great, that sounds doable!
Well then... it will happen! We will now have to start planning.
Yay, that totally removes the question/barrier I had! You guys think up of such amazing things~
It was a dark and stormy night!
grin

Good idea.
Well Sam that's as good a place to start as any. Especially for a dream-story.
So, who wants to do the first chapter?
I vote Lumi, since this was her idea.
Raven Knight and I share dreams, and it's a continuing storyline. I think the idea of dreaming a book is a great idea.
Firstly, I think we should all learn to share dreams. Then, we can dream storylines together. I think this will actually be a lot easier than trying to dream the same plotline without sharing dreams.
I am all for learning to share dreams!
Would you two perhaps be willing to do a workshop to teach us?
Ooh, yes, a workshop would be fun!
I would LOVE to get back into dream sharing. The only forum person I managed to dream share with, was someone that I had been talking to very much every single day. Other than them, the only person was my sister. I believe it is of the utmost importance to have a very strong connection to your intended dream sharing partner. You have to be on the same wavelength. So it makes sense that siblings would be able to share dreams.
I guess what I'm saying, is that I think the first step should be getting to know someone very well. Talking with them everyday. Getting in sync. I would imagine that it would be extremely difficult to get to know a whole forum full of people well enough to be able to dream share with all of them. This is why I think it is most beneficial to do it one on one, with only one partner?
(back on topic though, I love the idea of this project! and think we should move forward with it, and keep it separate from any attempt at dream sharing contrary to what WakingNomad suggested)

Smiley and think we should move forward with it, and keep it separate from any attempt at dream sharing contrary to what WakingNomad suggested) I actually forgot about this topic... but I agree! We should get it started, and keep it separate.
I'm liking this idea. Is it a go? If so I'd like participate even though I'm not a lucid dreamy as I used to be. Something like this could make me a devout LDer once again.
There is already something similar to this already started if you look at the top of the Main page and click on the Featured Dreams tab, although it looks like it is no longer being done. What you will see is a compilation of dreams from the Dream Of The Month that used to show up on the Mortal Mist front page.
If we wanted to have a lot more chapters, we could pick a favorite dream each week so that a lot of different dreamers would have a chance to have a chapter in the book. A special forum could be set up for this where people could submit dreams that they would like to have included in the book, and the dreams could be selected from there.
We might also want to include vivid dreams in the book since vivid dreams can often be just as exciting and informative as lucid dreams.
If somebody (or a team or a rotating group or whatever) wants to take responsibility for picking featured dreams of any variety, we'll make sure they get featured again up front.
One of the many projects in the back of my mind is coming up with an interface that will make keeping all that up to date doable through a web interface rather than by direct editing of the HTML. I'd also like to see some limited version of Dream Roulette and the Tags featured on the front page. Implementing any of this is beyond my available time and attention resources right now. I can't even really come up with the focus to direct these sorts of projects.
I'm sorry so many things have fallen by the wayside in the past months, but my life is in a major transition right now and priorities have shifted. Things should be settling down in the next couple months. . . maybe.

No, what I had in mind was creating a continuous story through lucid dreams, not picking dreams to be featured.
Anyways, I probably can't do this for a while as I'm finding myself needing to look for a new job, so that's where I need to keep my focus these days.
