I was looking for a way to draw people's attention to Dream Journals and Featured Dreams, and I thought of making a contest. I thought of different models, but all have their flaws.
(click to show/hide) QuoteAnd then I thought... What if I made a contest? An official contest - the member-owner who submitted more total proposals for Featured Dreams would gain the Dream Stalker Award (which basically consists of that medal above , and public exposure) in May, to celebrate one year of the return of Featured Dreams.
The contest starts in February, to give people the most opportunities, and I will keep a record of the proposals here. In the end of May's deadline, a winner (or even more than one, who knows , would be announced. (15:50:22) IndigoGhost: Wazzzzzzuuuuuupppps ^_^ (15:50:39) StarSeeker: And write a sort of a dream with all those parts (15:51:00) StarSeeker: no, forget it (15:51:09) StarSeeker: they could just use the Search feature (15:51:43) Hukif: lol (15:51:57) StarSeeker: Or the contest could be making a story out of excerpts from dreams (15:52:33) StarSeeker: A story with beginning middle and end (15:53:09) StarSeeker: And either the best story or the story with the most different dreams (IDK) would win the medal (15:54:03) StarSeeker: Condition - you can't use your own dreams; the dreams must come from more than two different dreamers (15:54:04) Hukif: Well, you are the one who got the idea, so whatever floats your boat lol (15:54:34) StarSeeker: I was asking for opinions (15:55:02) Hukif: But I'm bad at complicated stuff. (15:56:39) StarSeeker: Yes... you're right. Complicated stuff doesn't get many participants I could use some ideas for a contest (and that contest could be used to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of Featured Dreams, IDK)... I even have a medal
I like both of those, especially the second one. For the second one, I could see the following.
(click to show/hide)First Semi-Annual Mortal Mist Dream Weaver Contest
Synopsis: The purpose of the Dream Weaver contest is to create a story from various dreams of other dreamers. You may combine as many dreams as you wish in order to create a single continuous story. At the end of the contest, the best (two) story(ies) will be voted to win a medal(s). Also, the longest (quality) story will be selected to win a separate medal.
Rules:
- You can't use your own dreams.
- You can't use dreams from any single dreamer twice in a row.
- Your story must be at least three parts long, preferably with beginning and ending.

(btw, I'm glad there's a warning asking us if we want to modify someone else's posts)
Honestly? I think it is just a matter of advertising and seeing who turns out. The original DS contest had quite a turnout, so maybe this will too. I couldn't say with any certainty, however.
I guess it doesn't hurt to try
And what about the first model? AspiR thought it could lead to a false participation.
How's this for an award? (click to show/hide)
The awards should be 16x16.
For the first model, I think there should be a limit of 1 or two max per week, and the focus should be on bringing in quality entries rather than a large quantity of entries. Perhaps it could be just a badge to people who submit at least three entries per month (at a entry cap of 1/week) rather than a contest.
Quote from: wolvendeer on February 19, 2011, 02:50:50 PMThe awards should be 16x16.16x16 pixels? You mean for having those icons like MMP or Monthly challenges? I was thinking of just putting something in a post or a thread saying "This one is for X! Thank you for submitting those entries!" And if the person wanted he/she could have a smaller medal to put in his/her sig. But for the Dream Weaver contest, having those little medals would certainly be more rewarding
Yeah, for the medals like the MMP gives. I wouldn't do the ones like the challenges gives because that's too much work. I think it is more rewarding to be able to collect the little badges, though.

One is golden, the other is not But I think only the Dream Weaver should have that. It's a bit too easy for the other contest
It would be more of a reward for participating than anything else. Something like "All I have to do is read journals and post dreams I liked and I get this shiny new badge! "

I suggest a prize for: "Longest time without any recall"
