I'm upstairs in some building. A friend is with me. We are having a discussion about a device. There is a government conspiracy surrounding it. As we go downstairs, I am talking with someone on my cell phone who is telling me about the conspiracy. He mentions one of the effects is dizziness. I realize that I have experienced this very thing. We continue downstairs and across the floor to leave the building. The man informs me that something causes people to remember things they are not supposed to remember. I immediately think of the strong energy flows I've experienced in LDs, that this has something to do with remembering.
My friend opens the door and walks out. Suddenly a gale force wind blows in, threatening to knock me over backwards. I lean forward falling off balance and end up on the floor. I yell, What's happening?! M turns around with an amused look on his face wondering what I am up to. He offers me a hand bringing me to my feet. Suddenly, I realize that I am seeing things. We walk a few steps. The gale has stopped. Things don't look right. Across the way there are some vehicles piled up. I realize that M sees nothing out of the ordinary. I grab him by the shoulders, shaking him, exclaiming, M, I 'm seeing things that aren't there! Amused, he remarks he is not surprised given all my dreaming. I point my finger several times attempting to make the hallucinations go away. I wake up.
What I find interesting about this dream is my attempt to adapt a lucid-dream schema to a bizarre waking reality situation. In my repertoire it seems there was no better way to react, except, of course, to realize I was dreaming. I knew that I was seeing things that were not actually there in the physical world. So I attempted to banish the hallucinations like I might in a LD. To anyone interested in the schemas of dreams and the waking world I recommend reading the "Building of Dreams'" in EXPLORING THE WORLD OF LUCID DREAMING by Stephen LaBerge, pp117-136.
An interesting article that discusses contextual hierarchy in waking and dreaming is "Varieties of Lucid Dreaming Experience" by Stephen LaBerge and Don DeGracia:

Lucidity to all, Nathen
Nathen,
Your dream above reminds me of a short NLD that I recorded in my journal.
"I am watching TV with my Mother. The TV picture is in colour. There are figures moving on the screen. Suddenly I have a strong feeling of an impending event, almost alarm ((I have this before some of my LDs and this is the nearest I can get to describing the feeling)). I feel that I have a brainwave! I turn to my Mother and ask her "What do you see on the screen?" She replies. What she describes is not what I am seeing on the screen. I leap to my feet with excitement. I think, yes this is it, I've discovered something important about dreaming." I awake.
When I awoke I felt extremely elated and excited, but frustrated because I could not remember the dream. Then it came to me after a minute or so.
I wonder what the parallel is between asking a dream character to describe something and looking away and then back oneself.

Hi, oneironauts.
Hope you have as much fun, as I had, as I remembered this dream:
I'm jumping higher and higher, flying while I'm escorting someone, who is walking on the ground. I find it rather pleasant, and start to wonder, how this can be. I'm drawn into a new scene. I am walking around somewhere outside. I remember, that I was flying a short time ago. I conclude that means, I must have been dreaming. And am now awake. But I'm not really sure. Maybe I can really fly? I try it and jump, but land on my buttocks again and again. I think about maybe walking on water or hovering above a grain - field to show my new abilities. But I can't do anything surprising. I awake in my bed. This time it really is waking, the RC button works.
It is interesting, that the expectation to be awake very strongly ruled the dream - gravity. In spite of this many trials I haven't been able to fly or even perceive, that something is odd about my behaviour or my thoughts. Next time...
CU again in a week.
Sweet lucid dreams
Ralf
I have only been able to fly in regular dreams but not lucid. In my last lucid dream I realized I was dreaming and I was with my friend so I kissed him then I took his hand in mine and stood shoulder to shoulder with him and told him we should fly. So I counted to three and I don't remember anything after that its just a blur except I do remember doing some crazy flips. But I know we didn't fly. So should I try to fly alone next time?
Seeking Advice luckystar
Hi, Luckystar
Why do you post the dream here, when you say, you were lucid? Don't be that shy...
Nonetheless I'll give you advice: Try out what works for you. If you browse through some of the postings, you'll see, that some LDers very enjoy erotic flying, i.e. flying with a beloved one or some delighting dreamcharacter. Anyway love is all that matters. Some say, that it is hindering or nearly impossible to try and persuade dreamcharacters to do something. Make your own experiences and keep us posted.
Don't be afraid, open eyes and heart wide And take a nights flight into delightful light
And excuse a German poit I know it's bad, but I do and do it
Ralf
Once again you're right Ralf, I should of posted this somewhere else. It's just I was looking around and I read the last few dreams that talked about flying and you're right maybe i was kinda embarassed to admit i have sensual lucid dreams sometimes. I'll post my new lucid dreams under the right category from now on.
Lucidity to all and to all a Good Night! luckystar
Luckystar
There is really no need to feel embarrassed. I know many people enjoying sensual LDs. And I can say that some of my sensual dreams took me very high. For me there is a close relation of sexuality, love and spirituality. Nonetheless I must confess that I mostly do not go into details here, and that isn't necessary.
Keep dreaming wild

Not sure about this one. Is it prelucid, or have I just been reading too much dream psychology? A dream friend named Sharon and I are walking down a street at night to visit another girl friend of ours who is confined as a patient. The place where she is is unlike any hospital, but more like a small outer vestibule or small room. She is in a sunken area ahead of us. We are talking, and I start playing my laptop, which I have not brought with me but which is there. Nor do I take it with me when I leave. We're listening to some very old "Sing Along with Mitch" type stuff over the Internet. "It's amazing how modern technology can reproduce all this old stuff," I remark, quite impressed, "even with old scratchy CD's and records." There is general agreement, and I say to the friend we have come to see, "This stuff was old when you were a kid, wasn't it?" She agreed that was so. It was almost as if I were accepting my friend as my mother too, though only for this section of the dream. When another song starts to play, not quite in the romantic style of "When We Were a Couple of Kids" or "Bicycle Built for Two." I say, "It seems they sang about lust and anger back in those days, too. Mostly that kind of stuff is in modern music, or at least you think so. The old stuff wasn't always so innnocent as you think." Again, general agreement. Sharon suggests it is time to go, and I approach our friend, down into the sunken area where she is confined. "We'll come back again," I reassure her. "This is all so very Jungian. Maybe I'll come back to explore the basement and see all the old skeletons and archetypes." A sense of fear and awe fills me, and I say, perhaps in an attempt to lighten this emotion, "If I meet one such, I'll say, You're just my type, and hope he doesn't slap me in the face." The keeper of this place, a man, is present to see Sharon and I out, and he says, "You better hope so." "It's raining pretty hard," Sharon says, and we cross the sunken area to emerge into the night, and the downpour. When we get home, I'm about to crawl into bed, when Sharon says, "Tell me about what you perceive in your dreams. What are dreams like when you can't see?" "Didn't you get my email?" I ask. "No, I haven't checked it." "Well, I sent you an email with long descriptions of my dreams." But sensing that she wants to hear it now, I tell her what my dreams are like.
HI Oneironauts..My recal was slowing down days ago but Is coming back in full force.. This dream was VERY INTENSE!! It was more like a second wakeing reality kinda like an action packed chuck norris movie! In this dream I was walking down the main street of a big city..All of a sudden I hear what sounds like gun shots from across the street. I look and see a crazy man who apears to be drunk he s shooting at everyone in site!I hear people yelling get down! All of a sudden I get hit 3 or 4 times It hurts too ! then find my self in a hospital pulling my shirt up looking for bullet holes and blood! I feel a stinging and all I see is little pink spots outlined in red on my skin no blood either.. Dream bullets I guess.. Any way I leave the hospital right away go back up the same street and I spot him again hiding between some buildings with his gun.. I walk up the street and he starts shooting again!! I reach a couple of people and I tell them theres a guy back there shooting at everything that moves.! So all three of us ran up about a block for cover.I noticed one man using his cell phone to call for help! I then seperated from the two people {dream carectors} and found my truck and was driving back down the two lane street looking for {this not so nice dream carector} As I drove I spoted him riding a bycicle with his rifel slung over his shoulder..So I spedd up and vered in to him just enough to knock him off his bike and I saw his rifel fly through the air and heard it hit the street with a no less than perfect! sound! as It hit the pavement! I then wanted to stop my truck and grab his gun and hold him for the authoritys.. But I decided not to. I kept driving then I woke up... EVERYTHING about this dream felt SO REAL!!!Like a Fast paced real life adventure.. I dont normaly dream this kind of a dream hardly ever!!! and I dont know where It came from... mabey a detective movie?? Also The little man with the gun looked exactly like a guy Ive seen a hundred times at the flea market I some times visit.... Even though It [wasnt] my favorite dream I find it hard to imagine any dream more life like than this one.. Was this just a night mare? I never once thought {IM IN A DREAM} But I was able to control much of the dream.. WHich is a factor that is used in lucid dreams. coments? Dream on.. tom
My visit last night to the town of [Sleepy Bogg] I was driving seemingly forever down these winding roads in my clasic 1950 ford It looked just like the ford in the movie [Thunder Road] I was driving so long that I started to question where I was? There was a small town up ahead and I was driving along a river and saw a group of people fishing and talking so I stoped to ask directions and and find out where I was since I had no map..I parked my car on a bluff next to the river and walked up to an old man with a fishing pole and asked what town Is this? HE answered why this is Sleepy Bogg sonny... I then asked what state is this? He again answered this is Sleepy Bogg.. I figured he was just hard of hearing and thanked him..But I still had to know where I was so I asked a second person and they said I was In sleepy Bogg also and when I asked about the state they said sleepy bogg! I tryed another two people and they gave the same answers they were starting to bug me! I HAD TO KNOW WHERE I WAS!! I finaly found one person who showed me a road map.. I looked closley at the map and it said I was some where near Montreal Canada! I thought now Im realy lost! I started back to my car and discovered somthing.. IT WAS GONE!! After a longer look I discovered It had rolled down the steep bluff on its own into the river and I could see the back bumper just above the surface of the water..I was freaking! Oh no my beautyfull clasic car! I had to get help to retreive my car so I ran on foot into Sleepy Bogg witch was only a few blocks up the road.I noticed It was a very hilly town.. I was asking every person that passed by me who can help me pull my car out of the river?? And finaly I found this one chap who said he would winch my car out of the river with his tow truck just follow him.. He was on foot same as me so I started to follow him up this huge long hill..But as I followed him something distracted me and I stoped in my tracks! I just saw a huge white [cloud or wisp] pass right in front of me very fast it blocked my whole field of vision as It passed. I was amazed by the sight..It was a flying white horse!! I was suposed to be following this guy up this hill.. What was I doing standing here? So I started to follow the guy who was much farther away by now.. I could see him half way up the hill!! But after a few steps I had another visitor..Sticking his long neck over the fence looking at me was a very colorfull geraffe! I told him I would talk to him later and I had to run.. So I ran full speed after the guy with the tow truck who could rescue my car from the river! He was aproaching the crest of the large hill and I lost sight of him after he reached the top.Shortly after that I reached the top of the hill fully expecting to see him there waiting for me.. But he had totaly vanished.. gone..Shortly after that I woke up...This dream was extreemly vivid much like every detail in wakeing life. The first half of this dream where I didnt know where I was Felt a lot like an episode of the [TWILIGHT ZONE] And the memory of this dream feels just as real as any memory of wakeing reality.. It was a sooper experiance! and I dont remember any memory of knowing it was a dream? [posably pre lucid?? Cool dreams.. Tom..
Tom, reading your dream, I am struck again by just how well we function cognitively in the dream world. This pertains to our debate on another thread. Look at all the correct decisions and action you took to cope with impossible conditions! Ask for directions, get a second opinion, check the map, run into town, ask for winch help, and so on. How could anyone claim that you were not fully cognizant and aware, and thinking and acting as clearly as possible under these awful conditions? And you didn't have to be lucid to think as clearly as you were thinking. Lucidity would have definitely taken the anxiety out of the whole experience and given you the power of greater choice in you responses--but it would not have made you smarter.
Thanks for sharing this dream with us.
Paul
It's called Low-Lucidity, when the person directs its actions deliberately, but is still unaware that he is dreaming.
Dear Tom and Nenad,
Tom: It would seem to me that if you did not know during the dream that what you were experiencing was in fact a dream, then you were not lucid -- at all. If, however, you suspected that you might be dreaming, but hadn't reached the final, fully correct conclusion, then I would call that state "pre-lucid".
Considering the spectrum of cognition within lucid dreams, I believe "low-level" or "tacit" lucidity is when you have a vague awareness that you're dreaming, perhaps realizing that what you're doing is something you do only in dreams, but you've not specifically and clearly acknowledged that you are in fact dreaming. For example, I often dream of skiing down flights of stairs. The action is very common and familiar, and I recognize that I only do this in dreams, but I usually just go with the flow of action and don't fully acknowledge the potentials of the state by declaring "THIS IS A DREAM!". I don't believe this term has anything to do with directing the action within the dream, deliberately or otherwise.
Towards more clarity, Keelin
Dear Keelin,
If you are a passive spectator of a dream, that usually ends without any deliberate action or move then I presume it's an ordinary non-lucid dream.
Everyone who has had some experience in dreaming so far does his/her actions in dream deliberately. It means that dream must have a beginning, main story and conclusion. If you are an actor in the dream without knowing that you are dreaming but knowing that you are in an unusual "state" we can talk about tacit lucidity. Why? Because usually in dreams like that you unlock your "hidden powers" only accessible in dreams. When you are skiing down the flight of stairs, you know that you can only do that in dreams but you still go with the flow. If someone is chasing you, you WILL probably escape by the means of flight or skiing down the stairs but you will still go with the flow thus not being aware that you are dreaming.
In app.90% of tacit or low level lucidity dreams you will direct your actions advisedly, mindful or deliberately.
Not being low-level lucid you probably won't use the power of flight to escape or any other power thus becoming the "predator's prey".
Nenad
Keelin and Nenad, before learning lucid dreaming I had lots of OBEs. I now consider my state of consciousness in OBE's to be tacit lucidity. I believed that I was in an altered state. I had that much awareness, that I wasn't in my normal awake state, but didn't believe I was dreaming.
Paul
Hi Paul,
Ah yes! And now, knowing that the experience takes place in a dream state, this awareness indicates at least some level of lucidity. ;)
Elucidating, isn't it? Keelin
Happy Christmas Everyone!Ive had a bit of a dry spell on dream recall for about 4 or 5 days but as usual its coming back full power.. Ive just experianced a dream that felt near lucid more like pre lucid I considered this dream experiance to be a very pleasent... Hear goes..[I was driving on a perfect sunny day through the country..I did not have a care in the world I was playing my radio and singing along as I drove..I then noticed a town up ahead.. I did not get its name.. I noticed it was very beautyful and very hilly too..I turned into the town and parked my car and decided to take a long walk..I was feeling good and in in no hurry..I could feel the suns warm rays on my face and back..The suns warmth felt much like the sunshine I felt In my more care free days of youth many years in the past..As I walked down the sidewalk up and down the steep hills of the town.. I was admiring the beautyfull houses and buildings everywhere!I noticed something! They were all stucko with red tile clay roofs..They reminded me of some place ive seen in a picture somewhere! Posably europe? or southern california? Or mabey the place Ive always wanted to visit the south of france! Anyway it was a beautyful place..I found myself on top of one of the higher hills overlooking the town..From there I could see a vast sea of red rooftops rolling slowly over hill after hill.. Also a very blue sky dotted with white clouds everywhere hovered over the town with much greenery and color everywhere!I then continued my walk farther and farther through town..I also noticed how quiet and peaceful it was everywhere there!I ran into a person along the way a bit younger than I and we had a short chat about some subjects we had in comon then we went our own way. Then I remember finding a bench along the walk and sitting down next to a trash can on my right..I noticed a newspaper in the can so I pulled it out and started reading it..I had walked a long way through town and the reading was makeing me sleepy so I fell asleep on the bench and when I awoke I knew I had dreamed!I also noticed an old man was sitting next to me now..He looked like he might be from south america? I tryed again to read the paper but lost intrest as the old man smiled at me as If he had some secret to share? I then got up and tryed to find my way back to my car.. On the way I again passed the young fellow I met earlyer in the dream..I asked him wich way was east and he pointed me in that direction..I also told him I just had a dream..Do you ever dream? He then said he couldnt aford to do those things because he was too buisy..I thanked him and kept walking and then I woke up.. What caught my atention most in this dream wasnt just the fact that it was [super]vivid..It was that in my dream... I fell asleep on a dream bench and had a dream in a dream town and asked a dream carector If they ever dreamed??I thought that was cool at least from my experiance!I was not aware of It being a dream when it was happening but something tryed to tip me off to the fact because of the dreaming within a dream part of the dream? Merry Christmas happy new year to all...Tom..
Has anyone experianced a dream like this one I had early this morning... [ I remember floating weightlesly in a slowly moving sea of cloudy.. energy..It was like a cosmic cloudy mist that moved with the gracefullness of clouds as I floated with it... I noticed as It slowly moved along I would ocasionaly move my hands and feet in a swimming motion..And as I made these motions It greatly afected the slow moving cloudy mist and caused it to swirl and break apart and change direction like the finest of all dusts would do..I started to notice that If I became calm and stoped moving my dream body the cloudy mist would stabilize And I would see many changing dream images..But as soon as I started moving my weightless dream body again it all stired up like dust and the dream images would temperarily disapear again... It seemed that my dream body had to be in synk with this mist or things would be interupted..So in this strange dream I remember trying hard to not move my [DB] in hope of bringing back the images.. I also remember that this [cloudy mist} was very colorfull and the colors apeared much like those you see at sun set in the horizon..I must have been takeing a ride through inner space I felt a bit like a student being taught how to swim..This dream was not like the usual simple dreams of everyday life..It seemed almost cosmic and spiritual to me....Tom..
Maybe you have experienced the Astral world as it really is.
Nenad..All I know is in this dream experiance I did not remember as many details as with other dreams..This dream was not of a normal type..Everything I remember about it symbolized [floating].. [flying].. or swimming in space and It seemed like something eternal.. a learning experiance..I felt I was in an endless space floating or flying along with these colorfull misty clouds..And I learned that my movements sometimes upset the stability of images that would apear in the clouds and cause them to disapear for a while..Me and the mist seemed conected together and somewhat dependant of each other to funtcion in harmony.. I think I remember a kind of sound or music It sounded like the sounds that whales make in the ocean when picked up by sonar..The more I think about it [IM SHURE] there was [sound] in my experiance because all that floating flying along swimming and turning in space..All this would have been a hollow experiance without the sound that was in perfect sink with the gracefull movements of everything else..And the sound like cosmic music was like the cries of diferant wale species on sonar in the ocean.. It also could have been a form of comunication a very strange dream experiance..If It was anything It was one big constant [DREAM SIGHN] to become aware I was dreaming..But as strange as It was I [dont remember] being aware I was dreaming It all seemed too real..Many happy dreams..Tom..
I have my own theory about that. In fact that is not MY theory but the theory that others have developed, and I was the one to agree with them because it seemed logical to me. In the miscellaneous/eye movements section I have described what I think about it. That was unwelcome on these forums so I won't refer to it, but surely if you would like to read it go to miscellaneous/ eye movements.
There are many clandestine and mysterious things that surround us. And I am 100% sure the dream of yours was not a normal one nor it can be judged as a lucid one
Nenad..Yes I fully understand.. And that was an interesting post. That dream like experiance I had is of the kind I only have once and a while... I would like to have it more often so I can look deeper into its true meaning..Im on my fourth book of dreams and I must take more time to study whats been written in those books..After all Isnt that the true reward.. to study the dreams. Not just to record them.. Nenad are you doing ok at lucidity? If so What method do you think works best on wakeing up awareness in a dream..Naturaly.. without a device..Any Ideas are welcome..Thanks..Tom..
Hello Tom,
When I dream, I always have that little bit of lucidity. That means I am always aware of the SUPERNATURAL abilities in my dream (flying, jumping high and wide, telekinesis...etc) but not always of lucidity. That would mean most of my dreams are a low-level lucid. As for LUCID dreams..If i want to have a lucid dream, first I prepare myself by reading a lot of stuff concerning lucidity, before I turn off the light and drift to a dream. Reading about Lucidity before going to sleep helps a lot. Principally it is my LUCIDIARY where I've recorded only lucid dreams so far.
Your question presumably points at DILDs because only in DILDs your awareness needs to be awaked. I would tell you that I never hunt for dream signs, and I've never had to. It just happens...a feeling in my guts, stomach;a specific feeling of a sudden rush. Then when I start to suspect that I am in a dream, I usually go to a closest mirror and start to stare at it. The mirror usually distorts my face and a sense of rush gets immensely high. Then I am a 100% sure that I am dreaming. When I want my dream to be more interesting I usually go with the flow since I don't always like to be a director of my dreams. I like being an actor ,always aware of my dream abilities.
As for WILDs...Those happen almost always on the morning;usually after I wake up and stay awaked for a period of time. The feeling of getting into the dreamland is usually followed by noise, pressure in the chest and some sort of clatter. Its like the wind blows around my head. Then I see many changing pictures before my eyes and one of those usually stabilizes. That is almost always a scene of my room. I start to get up then, room is dark and colorless, rub my hands, a scene gets colored and finally it stabilizes and I feel I am firmly in my dream. WILDs are usually for exploration, not for a dream exploration but something else which is not an adequate subject on this forum.
Anyway, You should try to wake up awareness without clinging to any device. Try to meditate, it will also increase your awareness, and of course- read a lot about lucidity
Nenad..Yes [Dilds] are the kind of dreams I try for.It seems that some things deeply ingrained in my mental make up always alert me that.. [Im dreaming] Things like eating hambergers in a dream..Is imposable for me.. I swore off red meat 2 years ago.If a hamberger apears infront of me..I instantly remember that I cant eat this dead stuff and remain healthy..I must be dreaming..Also any floresent green foxs or winged flying horses that apears in a dream is an instant dream sighn.Ive had far more weirder things apear in dreams over the months and they had no efect on my sleeping dream state..Only certain dream sighns work and they happen far too little.. Yes [dilds] tend to give me the longest and clearest color dreams of all..When [wilds] happen it has a better chance to be a nightmare than in a [dild] for me.. I notice that sometimes when Im in a certain kind mood I It doesnt happen very often..I can fall into some of the most vivid dreams of my life..And when I wake up Im so suprised of where I find my self..I need to try some of these new induction methods Ive been reading lately..getting late.. will talk again..Tom..
Hi All..I would like to share an experiance I had the other day.. Its about how the [auto pilot] in the brain seems to pick out subjects to dream about night to night.. I was riding my mountain bike around during the day and noticed an old thin black man wearing all black clothing [mabey a civil war uniform?]] sitting on the steps of the old court house building alone..The first time I looked at him I noticed a lost somber look in his face as he looked straight at me.. Something caused me to look back again and after counting to twenty a third time as a reality test.. There was something about this man that was out of the norm I thought? well I just went about my buisness and forgot about the stranger .. But an hour before I woke in the morning I had a very lifelike dream..I seemed to be in the old south united states about 1940s or 1950s? It was an extreemly vivid dream..I heard there was a big gathering of people at this huge building thousands of people atended it..Well I wanted to go there too because I heard there was going to be a huge book burning going on and I wanted to save the priceless books and artwork from extinction ..I could feel an air of racial tension in this dream concidering It was takeing place in the old south during the 40s and 50s..I remember getting to the building and seeing this giant pile books and old prints art work of all kinds..A small mountain of priceless works of art and thousands of books compleatly surounded by thousands of cheering and jerring people..I ran to the pile and grabed all I could carry to my car..I made several trips till my car was full..I then left and found myself in a [dream] demolition derby of cars all over the place..I was right in the middle of it cars comming at me from all directions and then I almost crashed in to one car it was an extreemly close call..I vividly remember the drivers face he looked a lot like the strange man I saw earlyer during the day I think! and I hope during My wakeing hours before I went to sleep..That close call made me wake up from the dream..Unless that wakening was also a dream??? But strangly I think its possable that seeing that strange man may have caused this dream..I wish I knew the mechanics of how it worked in the mind.. Any Ideas??.....cool dreams to all..Tom
Hi Tom,
Your dream is similiar to several I've had recently...I just figured they were reincarnational dreams bleeding into my lucid dreaming attempts, and since I'm constantly looking for dream signs and doing reality checks, I'm altering the dreams from what they "originally" were.
