At the request of lucid dreamers from Back East (Wendy and Paul in particular), we now have a New England page on the oneironaut network.
Enjoy!

re: east coast lucid outpost
The London Times ( www.the times uk)praised Stephen lebarge's work at Stanford while scoffing at a similarly- focussed theorist/academic at Harvard. Does anyone have access to archives at nyt where this was reported? Article appeared within the last year..probably w/in last 6 mos.
New Englanders are jointly energizing intent for stephen et al to be royally invited --possibly visiting chair position..Local benevolent soul suggested Harvard school of Divinity as having funds for tibetan/american topics. ( dream yoga---lucid umbrella term).
1-3-04 5pm sat. nap quasi-lucid dream-visit with dead lover
Seeing my long-deceased husband Fran, asleep on a cot, I go over to visit.. my dream thoughts noting, "Usually in dreams he is soooo far in the distance, appearing old and bent over"....I was surprised and ventured closer. I thought "yippee, this is a fine dream....arent I clever to dream up this new years visit.?" I did not use lucidity-prolonging techniques.
I sat next to him... on the cot thinking I might climb into the cot next to him. I could feel the warmth of his body and see his fluttering (REM !)eyelids, --Rudely, he made a body-noise somewhere between a burp-yuk-gagging sound. "Wendy--wendy", called martha, my expected guest in real life. I ran to the door..she wasn't there. I hung a note on the door for her to come in. I didnt want the doorbell to wake me, interrupting a possible further dream scenario.
When I got back into the my own real life bed, ...... I used techniques of dream-yoga visualizations to re-enter the dream and could not.
During acupuncture treatment, midday during appt., nap is common. While snoozing/drifting in and out of sleepstate --using 61 pts spiral relax exercise,I began using dream yoga technique of chanting seed syllables from ancient east Indian literature, recently published. To focus intent --on dreamcity thru the mirror. Other brave NH locals are listening to and sharing this experiment; some are using dream altars( small beach-forest-gathered items , mounted with bone and stone/glued together--studio hand- crafted) to help focus for group energy. Wendy, I didn't totally understand your post but I have a few comments. If you are recieving acupuncture for some illness it is best to just relax and let go of your thoughts. Otherwise you may interfere with the healing effects. If you are interested in using Qigong for lucid dreaming I suggest that you first learn and become proficient with the microcosmic orbit followed by the macrocosmic orbit. After proficiency is reached you can learn the 8 extroadinary vessel circulation. This is also called the 8 psychic channel circulation.

Thomas:
I know exactly what Wendy is talking about.
Aside from re-direction of ki, one of my pet theories about why acupuncture works is what I call 'forced relaxation.' That is, your mind knows you've got so many needles in you that at a basic level, you're afraid to move. Some healing comes from this, I believe. I've become so relaxed during some of my 'tune-up' treatments that I have to remember to breathe.
Instead of letting the mind/intent wander, I think Wendy is using this special place in her consciousness to work on her lucidity exercises.
Cool.
Cool, I respectably disagree with you and I will try to briefly explain my case. At the very least Wendy should get the physician's opinion and advice on the matter. Relaxation is of course a requirement for successful treatment. The core reason for this is that tension of any kind impedes the flow the Qi. The needles act to change the energy potential at various points along the body so that energy can be directed along specific paths necessary to promote healing. The mind, however also has the ability to change the energy potential at specific points and it is very possible for the mind to be in conflict with the treatment. When I used the term "let go of your thoughts" in my last post I most definitely did not mean to let the mind wander, but instead to quiet the mind to a state of non-thought. This raises awareness and aids in relaxation and in other words "puts yourself out of the way". The only exception to this should be if the physician specifically asks you focus your mind on a certain area of the body or some other mental task in order to enhance the acupuncture. It is well known that physical activity creates tensions within the body, but Qigong practitioners also realize that mental activity gives rise to the same types of tensions. Although I wholeheartedly agree that Qigong can successfully be used to aid in lucid dreaming, one must always place a higher priority on maintaining and establishing health.

Hi Tom, Appreciate your feedback. The acupuncturist is also MD, with long pre and post treatment talk sessions( approx 40 min total, minimum,--longer if necessary, usually is not). He knows all about my visualizations/dream activities. Dream yoga is not his thing, but he gets the gist of it and realizes it is a luxury for me, having an active listener to honor the ritual aspect. The quigong in my area didnt make enough attendance to continue. New nearby tai chi group is scheduled to start in mid- Apr , so maybe that will help. Sporadically attending Tibetan medit group--still trying to get "out of my way" ( after 6 0+ years). 2 LD in Jan '04 after long dry spell.
Hi Paul,
Your supportive comments are so valued and helpful. Last acupuncture treatment, Dr. forgot about me after 2-3 hrs.. finally began to unhook needles myself to use bathroom when he walked in apologetically...is only MD with busy acupuncture business --really booming. U can imagine I was somewhat puzzled at being left so long--, then pissed, as old abandonment issues surfaced.
My last LD was following old horse into his stall--, (after the stall door closed), by sailing thru the boards. So there is hope after 65!
Tibetan calendars can be adjusted when useful--so one can learn to enjoy lifting of ordinary time constraints.
happy day and hi dreamin'
