Am interested in most dream related experiences..especially am involved with the creative process in waking life,-- as inspired by dreamscenes, for example: poetry, collage, wall murals created from dream-exploration. Have found that writing morning dream-haiku .... is useful as easily accessible, expressive tool...then dream consciousness is already there for a record later, as well as useful for further inspiration. These projects seem to make me aware synchronicity is almost an ordinary event....meaningful coincidences all the time, everywhere.

Hello,

Perhaps this is because we actually create our own reality. It's an interesting concept if your interested. There are many websites, and books on the subject. These correlations also explain the truth behind dreaming, when comparing them to life after death, astral travel, and other phenomenon related to the sort. I think it's very interesting how you find dreams inspiring, and how they help you become creative;I myself have wrote a poem or two just off of a vivid dream. Dreams also help me to understand my life a little better, give me hope, and take the pressure off of physical reality for a while.

hi brent, "truth behind dreaming"--assorted theories are as numerous as symbolic perceptuals in lucid experiences. Their common denominator forms tribal customs like dream yoga, easily applicable in circumstances involving group shared events of higher consciousness or alternative states. I welcome your closing sentence--suggesting dreams: as a vehicle for understanding life, source of hope and pressure reduction. w

At Stanford, I understood Stephen to say lucid dreams decrease as we grow older. As a 3rd generation lucid dreamer, it was a long time before I realized this experience was not so common to everyone. Now my lucid dreams merge from the night version-story /physical experience with the waking perception in the form of short poems---which often have vivid connection during the day as unfolding, matching scenes-events. Always still asking "am I dreaming" as we were taught in class. My mother did not and my daughter does not make any such distinction-- thinking it unnecessary to decipher alternative forms of reality from cosmic ordinariness.

Wendy:

I'm in Rhode Island [New England enough, I think] & love to talk about dreaming. I'm not sure what you mean about daytime events, though.

I'm hoping that the fewer-LDs-as-one-gets-older postulate is due to less interest & practice and not physiological changes. I admit, I'm having a tough time having another LD after my first in January.

Last night, I dreamed that a meteor or a nuclear incident had created a shock wave and I tried to warn everyone to get out of this skyscraper that I was in. It hit as I was trying to leave the building. I didn't make it & I thought 'OK, this is it' & the dream went black and I had this tumbling falling feeling -- I haven't felt that in years.

LD's dont stop...dont worry. they keep coming. I promise: Forms change...experiences just increase in alternative realities. Any dreamwork raises consciousness;-- as your dream attention intensifies, synchronicity just abounds. No doubt u have noticed that already as you are this far(ie to lucid site)

Your "tumbling" share is a playful gift to collective unconscious..thx. I find quick-sketch or haiku a natural expression for me...helps maintain the "oceanic Feeling" which freud complained he never felt..too much analysis and not enough pure joy i think. Have a hunch that possibly you are going to a deeper level--may have to wade thru some dark issues and integrate along the way...part of the healing/insight.. process...helps the trust and intuitive elements.

Paul--anywhere near providence RI?..was there 2x last week---113 miles--ez drive my door(portsmouth nh) to Nordstroms.

re: daytime events---recent example

So as not to forget--not taking time even to dreamjournal entry, I hurriedly sketched a powerfully explicit dream fragment of rapper, Eminem facing me with totally realistic borderline-lucid sensory impression of his breath on by mouth.....Not at all a sexual thing. A softly, gentle transcendent dream. Something like watching a sleeping baby ambiance. ( i love his visceral poetic genius )was kind of a Muse dream.....Then tacked the dream on a wall, forgetting about it almost....Soon after, noticed boston globe photo of wintery singing bird with breath very visible. May not make any ssense to you or seem relevant in any way. But I began a collage of animals within the sketch, inspired by that news photo resonating with the delicacy and wonder..Beauty of the dream memory and sensory-wholeness experience lasted a few days(still conjure it up with this retelling, but in my life nobody gives a hoot---- so appreciate your listening)... ---if u can relate to this at all is a miracle)

Wendy:

Thanks for the poetry! I've had one dream drawn by Jesse Reklaw of www.slowwave.com, but never a poem. You're very good & I'm very honored.

Everything's close in Rhode Island. Forty minutes in any direction & you're out of the state. I live down by the University of Rhode Island, which is 20 mins. from Nordstroms in Providence. My sister-in-law lives in Portsmouth, NH.

Perhaps if we save our nickles, we could go to Hawaii with the rest of these dreamers one of these years. It would be fun to meet all of them. For all the world travel I did via the US Navy travel plan, I've never been to Hawaii.

Your breath dream was very powerful. And thanks for the supportive words as to the future of dreaming as we get older.

No dreams to report from last night. I woke about 2:30, did some yoga to stretch out, but it didn't help. So, it was the sleep meds. The rain made it rather inviting to stay in bed and try to dream instead of going to work. But it was worth it to struggle out of bed to find a dream poem on my computer screen. Thanks again.

Hi Wendy,

Indeed, difficult to contemplate, but extremely intriquing nevertheless. Suffice is to say that once we disengage from streamline societal pondering and embrace our true condition from looking within, perhaps we will begin to understand where these seemingly endless stream of ideas stem from. Who knows; I have tried, and I have failed thus far, but of course each new peice of information is a part of the puzzle to discovering ourselves. Happy OBEing Brent

Hi Paul, re: your slowwave-site suggestion ...went there, had fun, thx for recomendation...anything for dreamsupport in this seemingly dream-arid, backwoods neighborhood I inhabit. Author Stephen King lives just across the Maine bridge, so couldnt be totally dream-dry. Just have to be open to patience of search-process with LD intent. Also, what do you think of asking this LD site's administrators for east coast or New England site on oneironaut network? Could possibly get stephen Lebarge or one of his lab assistants to come to Harvard for weekend seminar..with the right publicity , could be inspiring and informative....although question of the money paid would be timeconsuming, possibly be ticklish...the money is there--- just dream about having the necessary contacts and paths made clear.!! Noted another lucidity network RI dreamguy in Conn. section of oneroinaut by states section and told him about you.

re: saving nickels for hawaiian Lucid-week seminar--

.yeh man-- will consider. Have (native hawaiian) favorite brother in law living there still, with a few other Island relatives; maintain close contact( brother of deceased Hawaiian husband)..so have been there bunch of times, but never to Kuai when lebarge holds court. Am od'd on airports at the moment.

Entered my recent semi-lucid dream on section of Health Issues "Applications of Lucid Dreams", if you are interested..take a peek.

happy dreaming, wendy

Wendy:

Yep, I posted a reply back to Daniel(the Lyon). Good to hear from another dream enthusiast in Rhode Island.

As an Aikido student, besides learning to throw people on the floor, one of the major lessons I've learned is the power of focussed intent. An Aikido seminar takes a bit of patience to put together, but essentially it comes down to initially having the intent, then inviting some big name Sensei, renting mat space, and inviting students. Et voila! A seminar.

Just to daydream what a East Coast Lucid Dreaming seminar might be like:

  • Location: some place dreamy, but cheap (Boston sounds pricey). NH has some beautiful locations, as does CT and RI. Block Island or Nantucket would be ideal, but logistically difficult.

Time: October -- fall in New England is crisp, beautiful, and has great sleeping weather.

  • Guests (I'd like to see): Dr. LaBerge, Linklater (produced the animated lucid dreaming film 'Waking Life'), Joe McMoneagle (famed remote viewer, OBE-er, and lucid dreamer), Dr. Persinger (studies magnetic influences on the brain & it says magnetics can simulate OBEs or alien abductions), Jesse Reklaw (Slow Wave creator)...this is a short list, more could be added.

Advertising: Spiritual Connection, Yoga Journal, Boston Phoenix, Fortean Times, flyers in health food stores & college campuses, radio ads.

Entertainment: screening of 'Waking Life,' local bands (take your pick), more brainstorming required here.

Sponsors: Lucidity Institute, Tempurpedic mattress, brainstorming required here too.

======================

Anyway, just daydreaming.

Paul, Wendy:

I couldn't tell whether you wanted us to add a New England page to the Oneironaut Network, or to actually set up a physical LI outpost in New England. So, I did the one that I could -- there's a New England forum now.

I will also join you in hoping that one day Stephen et al spread more than just their etheric and electronic influence to those of us on the older end of the country.

The best of dreams,

Peter
