Hello,i'm kind of new to this board.I would like to tell you all about my experiences with self hypnosis in lucid dreams. As a child i really enjoyed dreaming, especially flying. One night i had a dream in which i was chased by a very angry man.I run to the nearest building and thought of a marvel comic hero called Vision, who could change his density so he could walk through walls. So i imagined that i was him and gave myself the suggestion that i was empty and jumped through the wall.It worked very good, because i was in the building and the angry man was outside and could not follow me.Later when i was a lucid dreamer,i foud out that by making myself empty i could also walk on water. My first lucid dream was at the age of 19.But i did not realized it's potential till one day i was talking with a friend about dreams. He said he had heard that the reason why some people dream in colour and others dream in black and white, was that the people who dream in colour are more emotional.I found this not very logic and thought about it,when i suddenly realized that i could do dream research in my lucid dreams. So i thought about it and made serious plans. The first was, that in order to investigate lucid dreams safely, i wanted to be able,to wake up from a lucid dream when ever i wanted to.Two days, later when i had my next lucid dream,i tried with all my will to wake up.This was very easy, but i still decided to try this in all my lucid dreams for a month or so. That had a really strange outcome because i noticed that in lucid dreams of colour it took at max 1 second to wake up,but in my black and white lucid dreams it took at least 4 to 5 seconds to wake up.So i dicided to examine this for a longer period of time, like a year or so.I did and the outcome was everytime the same;dreams of colour 1 second max and B/W dreams at least 4 to 5 seconds. So i took the conclusion that colour dreams and B/W dreams are not in the same sleep stage.Dreams of colour in rem sleep, and B/W lucid dreams probable in non rem sleep.I thought that maybe the brain even used less neurons in B/W dreams then in dreams of colour.Like a black and white computer screen uses less memory then one in full colour. This made more sence, then that the reason for this, would be that some people are more emotional then others. At this time i went to the library to find something about these kind of dreams. The first book i found was that of docter Stephen Laberge! What a great book that was!!! I really tried every tech in the book. And it was great that i had found a name for these dreams, and also knew now that all over the world there would be lucid dreamers. At the same time i started to practise kung fu,and with the training we practised also a standing meditation. But because u could never totally relaxe youre muscles,i one day tried it at night while i layed in my bed.I imagined that i let my head sleep and i focused totally on breathing. My hands on my stomach. After half an hour i became aware of the fact that all the sensory input, like sound and the position of my body was smoothly fading away.I had the faint impression i was sinking.I was in a sort of grey nothingness. It felt totally empty. Then after some time i saw from the centre of my consciousness, an visual.First it was only a point, but it grew bigger ans bigger, and in it i could see colours and movement, till it took over completely and i enterd a dream.I was lucid but it was difficult to totally ignore the dream. So i looked around,i was in my bedroom.I walked to my chair to sit in it,and closed my eyes and started to meditate again. This time it was really different,it gave me a feeling of bliss and i was floating in the air. I liked it and did so for 5 minutes and then everything faded away and i woke up.Wow,this was really an addictive experience!!So the first week i did it every night,i not always succeeded in reaching dream stage. But it always gave me a feeling of great freedom and bliss. The seccond week,i thought"Ok,this is fun,but i don't get much sleep this way(did it till early in the morning). So i stopped doing it frequently, only once a week,in the weekends!! Then i also started to read books about the brain, neurotransmitters and eeg diagrams from rem sleep and hypnosis. And i finally started to read books about self hypnosis.I found this quite interesting and started to practise it.I found out that i could use it to improve my meditation. This mix i called trance meditation! So again i did not get much sleep. But one morning,i had a really great idea(maybe the new brand of coffee i used),why stay awake a whole night if i could practise self hypnosis in my lucid dreams!Wow,this looked interesting!Three days later i had a lucid dream.I said to myself "Ok Jeff, here goes.." I did not wanted to get deep into hypnosis the first time,so i gave it a small try.I looked at one point, focused and said to myself "sleep...Sleep".Normally this doesn't work, but because in dream stage you are already in a stage of sleep,i thought i give it a try.And within seconds i was in hypnosis. What normally took at least 2 hours, now took seconds!I was really impressed. The dream scenery totally disappeared and i was in a black void.I did not feel my dream body either. It seemed like i was only eyes. After 1/2 a minute i stopped the hypnosis and just floated in the black void. After a minute or so,i had the feeling i was rising, and not much later i saw visuals appear, and seconds later i was back in my B/W dream again.I tried it again, and like the first time everything disappeared and i was floating in a black void. This time i tried to visualize a dream decor,or objects, like a red rose. But nope, nothing appeared. what ever i tried to imagine, everything stayed black and empty.I had the feeling that i was slowly rising again, and not much later i was again in a B/W dream. This time i stayed,i was so excited that not much later i woke up. So everytime i had a lucid dream i tried all hypnosis tech i had been practising in real. And again the outcome was different in dreams of colour then in black and white dreams. In lucid dreams of colour, when i used hypnosis, it was very easy,to realize every dream scenery i wanted to,just be using my imagination! And to let it stay that way as long as i wanted! But it was not so easy to enter the black void. In the black and white dreams it was just the opposite. Now it was very easy to enter the black void, but it was not so easy to realize every dream scenery and to hold it stable. It is also great for prolonging youre dream!!! I did many other hypnosis experiments but i leave it at this because i just wanted to give you an impression!hypnosis is the best tech i know for controling your lucid dreams and i realy tried them all.Only the way of the Yogi gives more control, but takes also much more time to learn!! Hypnosis is the bridge between the east and the west.I say to every lucid explorer, read a good book about self hypnosis. Then practise in real life.Because otherwise you don't have experienced the association of hypnosis(how hypnosis feels) in youre memory!!!!!! Thanks for reading and goodluck to you all! Jeff.

Before falling asleep, I use self-hypnosis to induce lucid dreams. You can order hypnosis tapes and cds off www.greatfun.com or download a self-hypnosis mp3 from KaZaA. After several weeks of listening to a self-hypnosis mp3, I became skilled in the art of self-hypnosis. I then began to give myself suggestions such as "I remember my dreams", "I record my dreams" and "I lucid dream". I also began to periodically question myself as to whether or not I was dreaming while awake and the habit carried over into my dream life. Now I achieve lucidity almost every night!

Hiya Andrew, I'm interested in the application of self-hypnosis for the induction of lucid dreaming, but I don't have much experience within that field. I'd be most grateful if you could recommend any particular mp3's off Kazaa that you found useful? Many thanks for any assistance, Andy.

Hiya Andy, I'd be glad to. There may be a user named kasper on Kazaa who is sharing the self-hypnosis mp3 that I used. The file name is Hypnosis - Self Hypnosis Meditation.mp3 and it's about 13, 495 KB. It's also possible to find the same mp3 shared by another user under a different file name. As long as the file is about the same size, it's probably the same mp3. Just type in keywords like self hypnosis and meditation and you'll find plenty of mp3s available to experiment with. Mark Yuzuik is the only hypnotist that I found particularly useful in learning the art of self-hypnosis, but I'm sure there are others out there who are also good teachers. In case you are interested, there are also subliminal self-help messages that you can download, but I'm not sure how effective they are. However, I'd be glad to hear if anyone has had any success with them.

Many thanks Andrew. I think i've found that particular file, slightly different name but the size matches so I'm pretty sure it's the one, and am looking forward to listening to it once the download has finished. Thanks also for your suggestion of Yuzuik, I'll have to look out for his stuff.

Greetings dreamers.. I'm pretty new here and I wanted to say that I liked the optimism posted regarding hypnosis and LD's. I am a hypnotherapist and hope to do plenty of experimenting with hypnosis and NLP as applications to induce LD's, applications during LD's, specifically for therapeutic benefit and generative change. If anyone has any experience in the domain of hypnosis and LD's id be interested. I am happy to start creating my own CD soon. sweet dreams!
